As I mentioned before....
I LUV THIS awesome candelabra from POTTERY BARN.
Waaay too pricy for Sweet Nothings SOCIAL SECURITY BUDGET, tho.
THIS one, bought at a thrift store for a very few dollars, is
SMALLER
PLAINER
LESS CHARMING AND BEAUTIFUL
but....
I think it MIGHT be cute once
YOU and I
work some magic on it.
So many sweet ladies offered up some mighty fine suggestions for what I might can do with it.
Some were simple....a few much more complicated than I could ever do...
and some suggestions required
T.A.L.E.N.T.
of which I have ZERO of.
of which I have ZERO of.
ALL were fabulous ideas.
Thanks so much. The very best of blogging is how generous and helpful Bloggers are...
not to mention how TALENTED.

saw these, thought they would work great for the larger candles I am wanting to use
and sent me the link. I ordered them right away.
May I just say right here that they are PERFECT...
I GLUED them to the original smaller candle holders and
they fit like a glove and
I AM HAPPY.

I thought that, since MY chandy was so plain and didn't have all the
curly-q's and swirly things my inspiration chandy had,
I would hang it from THIS
curly-q's and swirly things
holder to add a little
PIZAZZZZZ
to Ugly Duckling Chandy.
(I see I might need to touch up those screws with a little ORB....
funny thing....I didn't even notice them until I saw them in a photo....)
I've had that pretty metal holder for so long, I have no idea where I got it.
OIL RUBBED BRONZE and I are having a mad passionate affair...
I LOVE THE STUFF.....
The chandy hangs out far enough from the wall to be safe when I burn the candles...
I put this chandy in my dining room for the winter...
come spring, I may take it out on the patio....we'll see.
Do you like the holder it is hanging on?
I think it give it a little XTRA something....
Noooo, mine on the right, doesn't have the fanciness of the PB one,
but, it's a pretty good copy for a little fella....
only 4 candles opposed to the plentiful SIX of the one on the left.
I find myself thinking, "Why, if a person is going to make one of these, didn't he
flare out those straight bars into graceful curves.....?"
Mr. Sweet says if the maker had gone to all that trouble, I would never have
gotten the chandy for 2 bucks.....:(
I think both of them are just precious....
THRIFTED, OLDEN
CHANDY........$2.00
little pans.......11.00
paint...................4.00
Total $17.00........PRICELESS

Great job BJ!
It turned out great BJ! Looks very pretty all lit up-enjoy:@)
oh my goodness, that looks terrific.
lol yep it was me who found the little tart pans.. they look adorable and just perfect .
It's darling BJ! The scrolly bits on the hanger are a wonderful match for the scrolly bits on the chandy. Super clever idea to use the tart pans, and the ruffly edges add another element of detail. I think it is every bit as lovely as the inspiration piece:>)
Amazing!
Since you last brought it up I was wondering what would you do with it... Turned out Awesome. Well done!
Love, love, love your pretty chandy. Your transformation is perfect - just perfect!
~Adrienne~
I love the new chandy -- it is very charming. I agree with you about oil rubbed bronze things. Your photos are great. Joni
WOWZER!! That turned out soooo great BJ! I love it to pieces.
BEAUTIFUL! You should be a wedding planner or decorator or something. Or maybe stage homes for sale. You have such a gift for making things beautiful!
Beautiful!!! Love the mini tart pans to hold the candles ~ such a clever idea.
Love this project, thanks for all your clever ideas. I look at the new ideas on blogs and think, why didn't I think of that? I learn so many useful things from your wonderful ladies in blog land. Have a good day!
That is a great idea! I put up some clear big Christmas lights on the patio one year and loved them so much they have just stayed. I've seen the PB chandy, and really am partial to your, version. I love a bargain!

BJ,
What an amazing transformation, dear friend!!! It would look splendid on a porch as well, but I agree for now...it's in the perfect spot!!!
Fondly,
Pat
Fabulous! Fabulous! Fabulous!
Love this, BJ.♥
I think it looks mighty fine! Just think of what all you could buy to tweak with the money you saved from not going to PB?
Brenda
this is so sweet - and perfect for your home!
Well.. I think side by side...your's lights up the dining room just fine!
If you wanted it fancier...you could add some sparkles or something!
But I like it the way you've tweaked it. Pat
It came out soooo cute. Love the romantic feel with the candles lit.
Turned out great. Those little tart pans were perfect! Looks very cozy & romantic.
I think your thrifted chandy is fabulous now, BJ! The updates - tiny tart pans, ORB paint, and pretty hanger - transformed your piece into a one-of-a-kind beauty. And, by the way, I would argue that you DO possess a lot of talent! ;)

Tart pans! I have been giving myself a headache trying to figure out what I could use...thanks so much for sharing. I am planning to do something like this for my new screen room. Yours is fabulous! Love it!
Bloggers are wonderful and you have obviously developed some great relationships with a number of them. Not surprising. :D Sonny's idea was truly genius. This turned out just so great. Thanks for linking it up to Motivated Monday at BeColorful.
