I sure hope so...
it's a beautiful day out here in West Texas.
We've had some God-Given rains that have really made our lawns
and flowers look so awesome
My whole back yard is just FULL of blooms...
the Rose of Sharon have been beautiful the whole month of AUGUST...
(Sept. is bringing falling blossoms so it won't be pretty by this fence for much longer...)

The lady across the alley from us gave me a really tiny plant several years ago..
I planted it.
it grew...
it also sprouted little tiny baby Rose of Sharon plants...
...and I dug them up and replanted in other places...
and the first thing I knew,
I had them all along most of the back fence...
They just take my breath away .....
THIS is the Mother Plant from which all the other came.
So many blooms, the branches are starting to droop....
Flowers flowers everywhere.....
and the beauty part of these flowering bushes....
very little maintenance.
....a little trimming....
a little water.....
that's about it.
Very VERY hardy.
.....in the front tiny flower bed
I'll miss these beauties when we move.
It took me several years to get them as large as they are.
I'll plant one or two at the summer house...
it will just take awhile before they are full and large.
and besides....
just look at what is growing over there now...
...just look at these beautiful flowering bushes...
some of the most beautiful CREPE MYRTLE .................
I had always planned to plant a Crepe Myrtle somewhere around Sweet Nothings....
just one of those things that never happened....
Well, now I have these pretty things to look at, right outside our new dining area...
and besides....
just look at what is growing over there now...
...just look at these beautiful flowering bushes...
some of the most beautiful CREPE MYRTLE .................

I LOVE
these beautiful flowers...
such pretty colors and
I think these need about the same care as
Rose of Sharon.
You know...
I believe it's true that when GOD closes one door in your life,
HE opens another.
I am so blessed.

ReplyDeletePlanting at least one pink crepe myrtle has been on my wish list for a couple of years now, and I have never gotten around to it. Because of my knee problem, my husband will need to dig the hole for any crepe myrtles. I am using your pretty pictures in my pep talk with him about getting at least one pink crepe myrtle plant, and getting it in the ground either this Fall or in the Spring. One picture will be worth a thousand words!
Hello bj, I adore your 'Rose of Sharon' trees. I have one very large tree on the backside of the cabin deck. The flowers are doubles in deep pink and so pretty. We also planted three pink crept myrtles in the lower part of our front yard. They didn't bloom this year but I am sure they will next year. We also planted a lilac bush and a crab apple tree in the middle of our yard near the bird bath and little bench. I know you will miss your lovely flowers my dear friend. I am sorry but I am also sure you will have a new garden in your new home. AND...you will have a pool. YAY!!! Lucky you.

BJ ... Your Rose of Sharon are the prettiest I have ever seen. So glad you got rain and they were real showy when your house was on the market.

ReplyDeleteI love Rose of Sharon. Mine is loaded with blooms this year. I thought it was going to die in the heat last year. Mine is purple and I would really love a pink one, too.

The 'Rose of Sharon' looks terrific - and so easy to raise (in our mild climate I had a similar experience with centhrantus ruber - one plant first, then they sprung up all along the house - lovely). Did I get it right: you intend to move? That was the why I 'lost' my huge garden in change for a balcony - but as that is in Berlin, husband and I am very content. ReplyDeleteI love Rose of Sharon, not only are they beautiful, they are a hummingbird magnet! No experience with Crepe Myrtle, maybe they aren't hardy this far north? But they are beautiful too.

I think it's amazing how your flowers are 'showing off' at the same time your home is being shown to buyers - that's a selling point for me! Love Rose of Sharon and Crepe Myrtle - don't have either in my yard. Maybe I'd better correct that one!

ReplyDeleteOh you have a wealth of flowering trees. Both the Rose of Sharon (beautiful name) and the Crepe Myrtle. It is amazing what you did to beautify that fence line...stunning! I agree with you, God always has a plan and it is a good one. I've never seen the grass so green in West Texas. That is wonderful!

ReplyDeleteYour flowers both places are stunning. It has been a good year here too, so tropical that the flowers have loved the weather. I think flowers near a pool are much more appealing than those that aren't, so your summer house wins my vote!

I am excited my roses are doing well, so hopefully all is well in my garden as the years go by.

I agree with Mindy - the flowers at BOTH places are beautiful. I have a Rose of Sharon too. Maybe I need to see if I can get some "babies" going from it. We cannot grow crepe myrtle here but I sure do like looking at it at your place!

ReplyDeleteLittle starts are little blessings! I had a couple of white rose of Sharon at my previous home. Starts from my sweet mother. One of our sons bought the home so now I have brought 6 starts and planted them up on our hill behind our fire pit. Starts were also given to some of my children. It's the gift that keeps on giving. I did buy a purple one and planted at this home. I saw Crepe Myrtles for the first time when we vacationed in the Carolinas 4 years ago. Gorgeous! Would like to try one here. Love these bushes - I have both - Rose of Sharon and Crape Myrtle - always a favorite in the garden. They do grow very well and are hearty! They do make a marvelous display!
