Hello, All...
OLLIE RAMSEY was my dad....well, he still is even tho he is in Heaven now.
I got my love for a good breakfast from him.
and his favorite breakfast was
Molasses poured over both potatoes AND biscuits...
Well, I made his breakfast this morning....
It was all sooo good that we ate all the potatoes before I could get a photo of them on the plate....
and
there was only a small amount of syrup left so I just washed the cute jar and filled it with......
beautiful little purple flowers....
Do you have a
MEAL MEMORY
of one of your departed loved ones.....??
For my mom....
she always said she could "eat a cow chip if it had WHIPPED CREAM on it...."
hahhaaa, Mama....
meee, too
Lots of love, bj
HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT WEEK....
The Happiest Birthday ever to LACEY JEAN....
We love you dearly,
Granddad and Memaw

Blue Monday (purple IS a form of blue, right...?
Mosaic Mon. ( r u back to this, Mary?)
Food does trigger memories, that's for sure. Watermelon pickles remind me of my paternal grandmother as she is the only one who ever made them and I loved them.
ReplyDeleteHi bj! Sounds yummy. I like the music glass too. Anyway, my grandma made little ham and cheese sandwiches on Christmas eve. I have her recipe and we have them all year long, not just for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThis looks so nummy! Love the cottage fries! Mom always made them too. My favorite food, my Mom made was homemade vegetable soup! Oh...there is nothing better..anytime of the year...
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Gert
Your breakfast looks real yummy. I used to love when Mum made hash. That's what our family always called it anyway. If you want to be 'posh' you can call it cottage pie or shepherds pie, but those two don't taste nearly as good as our Mums hash. It never tastes the same when I make it :(
ReplyDeleteI think you've got some real pale blue in the photo of your gorgeous Lacey Jean, so you've scraped in :)
Blessings,
Diana
I always use Grandma's Molasses too, bj! Your breakfast looked delicious!
ReplyDeleteMy Dad loved (don't laugh )pickled pig's feet, and my Mom loved Chinese food.
Happy autumn and Mosaic Monday and Blue Monday!
My dad was a meat and potatoes man. My hubby would love your fried potatoes. Wishing your Lacey Jean a very happy Birthday! Enjoy your week ahead!
ReplyDeleteMy Grandaddy was my favorite person on earth, I think. Every morning of his life he had fried potatoes with onion, eggs over easy and fried ham or thick sliced bacon and biscuits. Breakfast was Grandaddy's favorite meal and it is also mine.
ReplyDeleteBig hugs!
Hi BJ, thanks for the visit and comment on my blog. Thanks also for sharing this fave recipe of your dad.
ReplyDeleteI like the presentation of the bisquick drop biscuits with the purple flowers. Makes my mouth water for a bite!
Two of my favorite things in the world - potatoes and biscuits! Love your dad's name (I have an Olivia)!
ReplyDeleteKelly
Purple is a stretch.
ReplyDeleteYour breakfast sounds good to me, even though I've never eaten molasses (other than in a recipe).
Thanks for being so faithful to Blue Monday, and for sharing your blue.
My Mom was the best cook. I have many of her recipes, written in her hand. Every time I make one, I think of her.
ReplyDeleteI got this post in my email around 5 am & by 8 am I was making DH hashbrowns with onions to go with his little sausage links & eggs. He said to tell you "THANK YOU!" LOL
ReplyDeleteYou have such a way with the elegant and beautiful moments, but I especially love the times you capture such a charming, simple memory and share it right out on a plate.
ReplyDeleteMy husband Chris is a molasses man, as well, and we keep a big bottle of CarsonAnn syrup on the water heater at all times. It can't spoil, and it stays just above room temp so it's perfect for pouring on a hot biscuit.

Purple as form of Blue. Very cute.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your post as always.
Thanks for sharing.
Come by and see mine.
Have a wonderful week,
Sherry
Every morning I think of my dad, when I pour my thick, black coffee!
ReplyDeleteWe are Norwegian and he taught me how to drink coffee.
(Love and miss you dad)
bj, you do know how to make my mouth water! My Mom was a good cook but I don't remember any special one but I surely do remember her sugar cookies she made at Christmas time.
ReplyDeleteMy mother had a similar expression only hers was with butter on it. What a great breakfast...I adore biscuits and molasses...not sure about molasses and fried potatoes.
ReplyDeleteWell, my 5', 98 pound mother always said she didn't eat sweets because they made her "half sick" (what, exactly does that mean??); however, she could down a bag of Werther's candies in an afternoon!! She could also eat six ears of corn at one sitting. I, alas, did not inherit her metabolism!! Breakfast is a favorite meal at our house. Have never tried molasses on biscuits but why not?
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
My grandma always made me eggs bacon and toast for breakfast. She was the best cook, and most mornings I still have that same breakfast, minus the bacon :>{
ReplyDeleteMy husband lives molasses, and my daddy did, too.
ReplyDeleteMy daddy loved peanut butter sandwiches with sliced sweet pickles on them. Yum. Me, too.
Hubs and I had fried ring bologna Saturday. That was on my mom's menu every Saturday. It was wonderful!!
ReplyDeletebreakfast is my main meal. Yours does not get any better. I was raised on a big. country breakfast.
ReplyDeleteThat's an unusual combination bj, but if that was your dad's, it must be good.
ReplyDeleteWe ate a lot of tea biscuits, which I call scones. Mom made them a couple of times a week and they were often dessert with jam on.
My mom made the best dish called "Texas Hash" and I still make it today! MY favorite Aunt Ang made the bestest chicken squares that were so delicious but I can not duplicate them exactly! :-( Kraft butter mints will always remind me of my BFF my maternal grandmother. She was blind and she always gave us those sweet little mints!
ReplyDeleteNice memories here bj!
Hugs
What an endearing post, I think breakfast is the best meal of the day and I would love to try out your Dads special breakfast!
ReplyDeleteWrenx
It's a good job I've had breakfast already...I couldn't possibly have two could I??? ;D
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful tribute and delightful post.
I think your flowers look stunning you've included them in Blue Monday. I'm a newie so I think bluey/purple is fine.
Thanks for sharing and letting me take a peek into your world.
Have a great week!
Thanks so much for stopping by!! Looking forward to seeing your new home..
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Debbie
