A town's Centenial Affair and a GrandGirl's Award

Hello, all,

Some friends of ours live in a small town about 30 miles from us and their town was having it's
 100 year CENTENNIAL.
We went over to help celebrate....eat....and listen to some pretty good music.

and, speaking of MUSIC...

Many of you may not have ever heard of the country and western singer,
WAYLON JENNINGS

but he was well known around here.

The food vendors were selling everything from
roasted corn ...
nachos...
snow cones...
tacos...

I really, REALLY wanted to support their fire department but....
TURKEY LEGS are sure not one of my favorite things to eat...
no sir.....not at all.
sooo....we just gave them a little donation.

People brought folding lawn chairs and sit up in front of the large stage
where the bands would be performing...

The wind was blowing, at times pretty hard,
but it wasn't so hot as it has been lately..

"Mr. Sweet...you are looking cute in your straw hat...."
:)

"...hey...don't 'cha know you can't get TOO close to an olden woman with a camera....????"
...wrinkles, ya know.

I didn't get a good photo of the stage with the band...
see it in the background...?

The young man singing is on his way to NASHVILLE to sing and write songs..
GOOD LUCK to him.

They had a large building just full of all kinds of cuteness...
 pants
tops
purses
hats.........

lots of jewelry and I came home with this pretty wire-wrapped turquoise colored cross.

The heavy silver chain belonged to my mama and I wear it just about any time I walk out of my house.

We had a really good time and didn't get home until pretty late.

It was about 2 p.m. before we got to bed...I was up at 7 and Mr. Sweet didn't come alive until about 9.......:))

We had a great time....

         LOVE, bj

This is BRYNNA ASHLEIGH, one of my beautiful granddaughters...

We are so proud of her and the Ropes Varsity Cheerleaders!

They won the SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE AWARD.

YAY....way to go, Brynna....
We love you !!

  17. Hi BJness! Oh, another beautiful grand daughter. Like I said, the apple didn't fall too far from the tree. You spread your beautiful looks to all of your children and grands! :) I love these little small town happenings! Looks like fun and the cross is so lovely. What a delicate chain too. There you've gone and changed your header. You're the header queen. That doesn't sound right, does it? :)

  28. And yet another gorgeous granddaughter. Your family really is a good looking bunch. Do you know that?

I would have loved the Centennial because that's the kind of thing that jazzes me. (And I DO know Waylon. I am a country music lover from wayyyyyy back._)

  29. What a wonderful time. I just love festivals like that. I also love Waylon Jennings even though I am from New England and don't listen to a lot of country music. He's an exception. I will follow you back on blog lovn...I don't really use google+ because it's such a pain in the neck. I find it very indirect.

  30. My hubby would have headed straight for the turkey legs but I'm like you not so much! OH yes we know who Waylon Jennings is, used to listen to his music quite a bit. I do enjoy fairs like this one also. Darling granddaughter and great accomplishment. One of our grands just got back from cheerleading camp at Kansas University taught by the KU cheerleaders-what a treat for her.

  31. You stayed out until 2AM . . . ! Wow, I'm impressed! AND, you woke up at 7AM . . . more impressed.

What a fun time you and Mr. had. I'm glad he keeps on a hat in that nasty sun. I nag (ahem) remind Johnny to put on his hat when taking his morning walk.

Now, I have seen some gorgeous grandchildren, and you certainly have a bunch of them. Just darling.
