HAPPIEST MOTHER'S DAY
May 12, 2013
Hi, Everyone
this is a
PARTIAL
RE-RUN....
and my photos leave a lot to be desired.
Back when I didn't know squat about a camera I was using and didn't have
a clue
how to turn off the flash..
That's MY mother in her flapper days...she was as cute as a button.
*************************************************
I had so many nice things that belonged to my children's great-great grandparents as well as things from their great grandparents and grandparents. So many of the items were small and I was afraid that , over the years, they would be lost.
I decided to make them each a
ROOTS MEMORY BOX
to hang on their wall.
I bought the box frames at MICHAELS
and covered the back of each in the red print fabric.

That pretty piece of crochet, the crochet hook and the picture belonged to my mother-in-law. I found the crocheted purple rose in her sewing machine drawer after she passed away.
The watch belonged to Mr. Sweet's dad..
I had a brass plaque engraved with ROOTS.

That's my dad and some of his pocket knives and a silver dollar he had for years and years....I even put his nail clippers in there. :)
The lady and gentleman in the left, top corner, are my children's great-great grandmother and grandfather...the glasses in the area beside them belonged to her and the glass bottle stopper is from a bottle that was in his saloon, so many years ago.
The two gentlemen holding that PRECIOUS baby girl...in the right corner...that's both my grandpa's and they are holding ME !! :)
The sewing notions on the bottom left were my mother's.

Hang onto them with all your might.....
they really are
A THING OF THE PAST
and what made you who you are today.
