HI, EVERYONE...
Well, Easter is upon us...
Isn't it wonderful to celebrate our Heavenly Father...not only at THIS time of year...
but ALL THE TIME.
Isn't it wonderful to celebrate our Heavenly Father...not only at THIS time of year...
but ALL THE TIME.
I wanted to make some awesome CUPCAKES
but all my cake stands and domes are packed and at the new house.
hmmm....let's see what I can do with what I DO have at this olden house.
I've had this glass footed bowl for at least 30 years.....VINTAGE, for sure.
The glass cake plate belonged to my mother and I can remember her serving her cakes
on it as far back as the '60's.......yep....VINTAGE, for sure.
....and, I've been taught by you smart bloggers that I can do THIS
with these two pieces of VINTAGE glass.
and make a cute-as-can-be CAKE STAND...
Yipee...this is sooo cool.
(it occurred to me that the bowl might look great, turned upside down so the large part
of the bowl would be on the bottom...
however, the plate wanted to slip and slide on it...
and it fit better on the large part.

I sat the bowl in the middle of this cute EASTER WREATH that I bought
several years ago, after Easter, for mere pennies at Big Lots.
I LOVE how it all looks with the
ORANGE DREAM EASTER CUPCAKES
displayed on the put-together-cake stand.
Do you ever use adorable and colorful GIFT BAGS
as a relaxed, informal centerpiece ???
Am I the only one that does this....especially in the summertime, full of real or faux flowers...?
I am such a sucker for a cute bag and the stores are just FULL of the cutest ones...
I love this stripe...with pinks, oranges, greens and white...it
just GOES with my little tablescape of CUPCAKES...
When I was a child, Christmas was my favorite holiday, just as it is for most kiddos...
EASTER was #2,
for sure.
My mother always made a new dress for me...and I loved hunting the eggs
with lots of cousins.
My little baby brother didn't appear on the scene until I was almost 10..so when he got older, I still had lots of fun, helping him find the eggs. :)
Gosh...don't they make a pretty picture..!!!
Some of you may have realized that it's not necessarily about the FOOD on my blog...
it's almost ALWAYS about the PICTURES of the food.
Some foods, such as these luscious cupcakes and Easter eggs make awesome photos...
...fruits, powdered sugar, cakes,...all great subjects for photographing.
Other foods.......for instance, soups, stews, meats are not as photogenic...
I have to work REALLY hard to make those pretty and look appetizing.
...the magic of PHOTOSCAPE.
:)
ORANGE CAKE MIX....following instructions on box but adding VANILLA....ALWAYS :)
DUNCAN HINES CREAM CHEESE FROSTING
with their ORANGE DREAM flavoring added...
It wasn't a strong enuf orange FLAVOR so I added
fresh squeezed orange JUICE to it and it was
DELISH !!
HAPPIEST EASTER HOLIDAY...
XOXO, bj

Those cupcakes looks so good. I never thought about using a gift bag and some of them are really pretty. What a great idea. Make some of those cupcakes for your open house and they will buy the house.

I love that you are still playing and having fun. Those cupcakes look wonderful. Say, do you remember Swensons orange chip ice cream? Bet it would be oh so fine with an orange cupcake.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness - you have me yearning for orange cupcakes, at 11 o'clock at night!
ReplyDeletePretty, delicate and delicious!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteYou put me to shame. Here you are creating great foodie pics from what you have available in the olden house, and I can't get it together enough these days to make the cupcakes let alone take the shot.
ReplyDeleteDebbie hangs her head in shame and walks away...
(I hope your open house is a smash tomorrow and surprises even your greatest expectations.)
Happy Easter to you & yours, too, BJ!!
ReplyDeleteI have the exact same bowl & cake plate from my grandmother! what an ingenious way to use them together.
Just like Sue above me in the comments, I've never thought to use a gift bag for a centerpiece! you're right...they DO make some beautiful ones! Thanks for the tip.
I hope & pray your home sells for you soon. I know the concern that hangs over one's head during such time. Good Luck on the open house, even if it is on a holiday weekend. (have you buried a St. Joseph statue upside down in the back yard yet?)
Hugs & Easter Blessings,
Rett
