Apples and Red Hots...

 HI, EVERYONE...
I just LOVE foods that remind me of simpler times....

BAKED APPLES......
this is pretty much a COMFORT food for me...

...because my mother fixed them for us all the time I was growing up.
**

She just used cinnamon, sugar and butter...
she didn't think about using RED HOTS.
Have YOU ever used RED HOTS and butter for your apples.?

Mr. Sweet doesn't like BAKED APPLES but
it's a big favorite of mine.

As much as I like them, I do forget about baking them....

I have to go to the grocery store tomorrow and I just listed
APPLES
at the top of my
"Don't Forget List" !!

 Mr. Sweet DOES, however, love
APPLE CAKE with PECAN PRALINE GLAZE...

and he is extra fond of...

APPLE PULL APART ROLLS.

These are the ones that you can use RHOADES FROZEN ROLLS, let them rise, smash them down,
drown them in melted butter, cinnamon, sugar, NUTS ....
bake them up, nice and brown....apples, of course.

then the wonderful POWDERED SUGAR GLAZE
takes them waaay over the top.
You can go HERE for the "kind of a recipe"

But he says CHICKEN SALAD, using nuts, cranberries, strawberries and APPLES
is the way he would rather get his
APPLE  A  DAY....:)
He does love Chicken Salad made this way....
and, meee, too !

Love, bj

I think I've got it figured out which things you're really eating these days. The last plate looks so healthful and pretty. No, I've never tried red hots with baked apples, but then, I'm in Mr. Sweet's camp. I've never even asked if John likes them...nope, says he's not crazy about them...maybe he'd like them with red hots.

E-mail me that recipe for the Apple pull apart bread. I didn't see where you listed apples - but it really looks delicious so I'd like to try it. Yum!

My mom did this!!! She also would put them in our hot cereal and now I do that with my kids' oatmeal. I love food memories. :)

I remember making Red Hot Apples when we were first married. Such a pretty dessert. I'll have to look for some of the candies to try them again. Thanks for the memories.

You know the saying: "A Apple a day..." ;)

We had the inlaws for lunch on Sunday and I baked apples. Don't know what are red hots (is it the things you put inside the apples? What is? Beans? Jellies?) but I used raisins and honey for the extra kick. Turned out lovely and now I'm wishing I had taken a picture of them - golden delight.

Well, need to cook again and take that picture :the sacrifices one makes when blogging: ahahahah

Thank you for sharing!

I haven't had a baked apple in years ~ sounds delish! But I like Mr. Sweets favorite rendition too (**

We talked just last night at bible study about how you can count the seeds in an apple, but you can't count the apples in a seed.

Have a blessed week! xo

I had never had baked apples with red hots until Troy made them. He grew up with them and was surprised I had never tired it before. They are now a pretty regular treat here. Your cake looks so good! Of course anytime I see the word "praline" my mouth starts to water! LOL

Love this sweet post. My grandma used to make cinnamon apples too, as we called them. She also put red hots in homemade applesauce. She colored pears a pretty pink with red hots. One of my favorite memories of her. Thanks for sharing.
