Remembering Ice Cream Socials...

Hi, ya'll.....
Hope you had a fabulous weekend...

THE ICE CREAM FAIRY
has been to
SWEET NOTHINGS
and
BOY !!,
did we enjoy her.
For the occasion, a couple of bunches of $5 grocery store flowers were in order....
here they are, just waiting to be cut, separated, and placed in an awesome container....
Here's a few I put in adorable little canning jars......
and tucked them into the cutest little wire bottle holder.
The cutie was sent to me from LIZ at THE BRAMBLEBERRY COTTAGE
last year.
I've really REALLY enjoyed it....
........it makes a great little centerpiece when you need something very low...
and "not too much"........just perfect with a few lovely BLOOMS inside.  ♥♥  ♥♥

Then we gathered FRUIT......

fresh, ripe, sweet STRAWBERRIES are always wanted on ice cream around here....
we slice them and pile them high on vanilla ice cream....

and, BANANAS are wanted by Mr. Sweet and others in our home fellowship group of the best friends in the whole, wide world......

....and, then came the TOPPINGS....
let's see now....I KNOW we have CHOCOLATE SYRUP...it must still be in the fridge...
then there's CHERRY DR. PEPPER topping...
and
pecans....of COURSE
and
TOASTED MARSHMALLOW topping
and
crushed PINEAPPLE
with PINEAPPLE topping
and
STRAWBERRY SYRUP to go along with those FRESH STRAWBERRIES.....
and
SWEET, THICK WHIPPED CREAM
and
BRIGHT RED CHERRIES
.....have I missed anything ?
O YES.....

I baked a country
SPICE CAKE
with
ButterCream frosting, sprinkled with just a touch of chopped pecans...
this kind of cake tastes pretty darn good
with a big bowl of
DRESSED UP ICE CREAM.....

O HONEY

 One of my favorites...
Raspberry Sherbert with 7UP....
Mercy, it can bring me to my knees....
we didn't have it this time....I just thought about it and probably will have one S.O.O.N.
THE ULTIMATE ......
Mr. Sweet......well, I can get just about ANYthing I want if I serve
him a big ole Banana Split.

Did I mention that this
OLD FASHIONED ICE CREAM SOCIAL
was the dessert part of the HOME FELLOWSHIP group
that gathered at our house on this Sunday?
It was a perfect time to have an ice cream party....77 degrees this fEBRUARY day. AWESOME...

We all had sandwiches, saving PLENTY of room for dessert....
NOW....go make YOUR SWEET SELF  a nice big bowl of your favorite......
and I hope YOU have an

  2. What a great set of treats! I had never heard of Dr. Pepper sauce, now I am intrigued...the walnuts are lightly salted, which allows the sweet ice cream to tasre sweeter. Perhaps summer is not the only time we can eat ice cream - how about now??

  3. Is Dr. Pepper the soda? The rest are fabulous toppings & we LOVE banana splits ... but never thought about dangling it in front of hubby to get things done. Hmmmmmmmmmmm! TY for the idea!!

I think this is a wonderful idea for a home fellowship. It's hot enough for Sundaes here too.

I love the addition of the cake. Delicious!

(And I loved your mantel in the earlier post. It looks wonderful. My favorite part is the lavender and the shoe forms.

  13. Oh this is not helping my resolve... I tried to have some ice cream. I was sure that there'd be some left over from my party. Nope. Not even one little lick. Wonder where that all went???

Oh now I really want to try the sherbert with 7-Up drink...sounds marginally like diet food. =D

  23. Seems there is something that is dribbling off my chin right now...oh ya, it's called drool!! [Even before I became Texan ---I LOVED MY PECANS] Anything with pecans, or just right out of the shell from our yard. Nothing beats a pecan. That spice cake would have me at your doorstep in two shakes of a lamb's tail!!

I love the idea of an old-fashioned ice cream social for fellowship!

  36. BJ,
Darling Ice Cream Social! The Ice Cream Socials I remember from Youth Group usually consisted of the "younger" ones sitting atop of the coolers filled with salt and ice...which I found out led to wet bottoms and character building. Believe me...it worked...for I'm quite the character, as you well know! Ha! I'm sure your social group was much kinder with those banana splits to indulge in! You are one of the sweetest hostesses in the Land of Blog!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  37. My hubby made banana pudding last night-with most of the bananas that I was supposed to make bread with for a Community Arts function.Since I got sick, something had to be done with them. He did a good job, except he almost scorched the pudding-he didn't know you had to stir it! Thankfully I walked in the kitchen for medicine and noticed. He would love all these ice cream toppings of yours on top of his ice cream!
