one of those that you just don't want to end...
You know the kind.
I am always late on seeing movies because, being as poor as we are,
we would rather wait until it comes on tv and not pay the high prices.
Well THIS one, I would have paid double.

The jest of the story......SHE just got divorced and trying like crazy to FORGET...and START OVER.
Not that the story was anything to write home about but......
(had a few words and scenes that MIGHT make one blush...as for me....I am WAAAAY past blushing....)
the visuals were fantastic.

Katherine: It's a nice little villa. Rather run down, but redeemable... Are you going to buy it?
Frances: The way my life is currently going, that would be a terrible idea.
Katherine: Mm, terrible idea... Don't you just love those?

Martini: "Signora, between Austria and Italy, there is a section of the Alps called the Semmering. It is an impossibly steep, very high part of the mountains. They built a train track over these Alps to connect Vienna and Venice. They built these tracks even before there was a train in existence that could make the trip. They built it because they knew some day, the train would come."
Some of the lines in this movie are fantastic

ReplyDeleteWell, I am late to see movies too! I haven't seen this one BUT that is one HUNKA-HUNKA-HUNKA burning love:)
ReplyDeleteI am looking it up to watch it! HUGS!
BJ ~ you are laugh out loud funny! And that's one of my favorite movies for most of the same reasons (:
ReplyDeleteI love this movie. There aren't many that I am willing to watch more than once and I've seen this one several times. We rarely go to the theater either. I'm too cheap and I like to watch in my comfy chair with my blanket. We love Redbox. Do you have one near you? You can rent new release DVDs for only $1 (or it may be $1.29 now). Our Walmart has one and our Walgreens, many are in McDonalds.
ReplyDeleteBJ, you are certainly a wee bit late watching that one. One of my favorites and have seen it many times. Even own a copy.
ReplyDeleteI remember when the scene where she learned that her husband wanted a divorce and she buckled...that resonated with me...and her funny friend who plays in Grey's Anatomy and all those lovely house scenes. I was not as thrilled with the love stuff. You've shown us enough that I want to see it again!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my all time favorite movies! I watched it for the first time soon after my divorce and have watched it many times since then. Love the scenery and the actors.....and some priceless lines!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite...."Ladybugs! Lots and lots of Ladybugs!!
Beautiful BEAUTIFUL film!!!
This is one of my favorite movies - I just loved the house and the simplicity of her life in Italy - and of course Marcello - who couldn't fall in love with him!
ReplyDeleteI added Linky followers on my blog so we'll see if it works!
You would love Frances Mayes books as they include her recipes which are wonderful. And the book is better and different than the movie.
ReplyDeleteI loved this movie.
ReplyDeletesittin here laughing till the tears rolled..
ReplyDeleteI just love how you write.. Its always a joy to come here and this post will now be one of my favorites.

ReplyDeleteI loved it! My girls gave the film to me..hmmm..food for thought!
Darn kids!
Not sure I could go that far away, alone though. Nope.
Her leading men are always so handsome!!
Guess I am behind times, I have not been to a movie in years. They just do not make them like they used to. Guess I have to take your word on this one.
ReplyDeleteI loved this movie so much, I bought the DVD and I have watched it a million times. There is a book, too!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
I've seen this movie so many times I've lost count, I love it too. One of my favorites. I love this actress. I enjoyed the book too. Great scenery and the house, OMGoodness! Love the post bj.

ReplyDeleteI love this movie too, one of the few that I like to watch more than once.Elizabeth
ReplyDeleteWhat a great movie and your review is right on. Another that is wonderful is Letters to Juliet with Vanessa Redgrave; also romantic and I think it was in Tuscany.
ReplyDeleteRita
Ooh, ooh, ooh!!! This is one of my all time favs, too. You just gotta love this one.♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteNever watched the film, but...
ReplyDeleteI want that house, in that setting. Oh my... Oh my... Oh my....

I ADORE this movie, it's one of my all time favorites and I love Diane Lane:) I have this on dvd and also have Unfaithful, which she's wonderful in too:)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind comment on Harrison Home! Following you now :)
ReplyDeleteYes I've seen this one. Eye candy everywhere and not just the scenery!!!!As you very well pointed out. My hubby dosen't like to go the the movies in the evening, the prices are pretty high. Sometimes we take in the twilight prices-not too bad. Fun Post.
ReplyDeleteWell thank you for the review and for offering up enough tidbits to get me totally hooked. We are so much like y'all and rarely see a movie on the big screen. We usually wait until it comes out on Netflix. Even then it's very sporadic and I am so far behind. I was ions behind most of my gal pals in seeing the Notebook if that tells you anything. I will definitely be putting this one on my soon to watch list. That really is one gorgeous man, uh I mean countryside. LOL!
ReplyDeleteA great movie! I'm glad you reminded me, it may be time to watch it agaon:>)
ReplyDeleteAhhh, that looks like a great movie...another for my 'list' when time settles down :)
ReplyDeleteI've never seen that movie but one look at Raoul...oh, and the house...has convinced me that I MUST see it! Will look in the video store for it:-) Good God, but he's a handsome fellow isn't he. SWOON! DROOL! As for the house and the way it looks inside and outside, it's simply amazing...and that view, WOW! Ok now I really meant the view and not Raoul! lol xoxo
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more, BJ, wonderful movie. I most especially enjoyed all the scenery, & the Tuscan country side wasn't bad either (wink, wink)!
ReplyDeleteI have a request, BJ. Several months ago, you posted this delicious recipe for red beans. I pinned it, but my pin didn't take me to the particular blog. So, would you please tell me where I can find it? Would love to make some.
Thanks so much & have a great rest of your week.
PS: Can't wait to see your table!
CAS
I love that movie too. Loved your post.
