WHAAAT?....ANOTHER PIE ??

I saw this beautiful slice of the most delicious sounding
over at MIZ HELEN'S
and just HAD to try it.
Just take a look at her beautiful MERINGUE...
I have a healthy respect for anyone that can make a beautiful MERINGUE...!
They are actually MY HERO !
I was humming...
and wearing an APRON
and feeling all fuzzy and warm inside as I set about
making this beauty for our dinner dessert...
I think I was even
WEARING  PEARLS...

I just LOVE this Cornstarch can..
probably going to add it to my other bottles and cans
so that when I show up on that tv show,
THE HOARDER,
I'll have a darling CAN !

I've never used
HERSHEY'S BAKING BAR
in my Chocolate pies before.
One reason I was so bound and determined to make THIS pie is that I've made Chocolate pies for over 50 years and have always used
HERSHEY'S COCOA POWDER.
I was very anxious to try the baking bar.

It was just about this time, after I had all the magical ingredients mixed together and gently gathering boiling speed on top of the stove...
when I remembered...
NO OVEN...
GREAT BALLS OF FIRE....
My oven broke last week and I have been having to use a tiny oven on the other side of the large one.
I have only ONE pan that will fit in that teeny, tiny oven and it is
{{{{{ RECTANGLE }}}}
for a PIE ??
**
WARNING...
EXTREME UGLY SUBJECT..
You may want to close your eyes....
I just stretched that little ugly, store bought crust into that little pan
and played like
ALL WAS WELL
with the world...
and i made the photo as SMALL as i possibly could...
do NOT enlarge it...if you do, your computer will explode and spit all over you !
 I know...
I know how strange this PIE ??  looks...!
It completely goes against EVERYTHING we ever learned about
PIE...
PIE should be round...
R.O.U.N.D.
But just look at that luscious CHOCOLATE..
and, look....
I had quite a bit left to go into a pretty bowl to DEVOUR later.
I only had TWO EGGS instead of the required THREE...
and my eggs were the MEDIUM instead of the required LARGE..
sooo,
my MERINGUE isn't anywhere NEARLY as lovely as MIZ HELEN'S.
but, gosh o'mighty, it sure did taste good.
I actually started out with 3 eggs and dropped one
IN THE FLOOR....!!!
Mercy me....
It was almost like I wasn't MEANT to make this dessert today
but, BY GOLLY.....
I DID IT ANYWAY.
ahhh, what a woman !
Everything just seemed....well ....SILLY around here today.
Mr. Sweet said he didn't give a  FLYIN' FLIP
what shape this pie was...
round, rectangle or triangle
HE LOVED IT.
It's really....REALLY a great tasting pie.
Served with tart strawberries...
and a little shaved CHOCOLATE on the top...
it brings moans....
THANKS so much, MIZ HELEN, for sharing this treasure with us.
Make one....
you know you want to.

YVONNE over at STONEGABLE. All of her kitchen wonders
look like they belong in a magazine. I MUST be nuts !
"Yvonne...after seeing this TRAIN WRECK, will you still love me?"
...you have to look hard for BLUE in this post but I wanted to link with
SMILING SALLY and ask everyone to continue to pray for her FULL RECOVERY.
WE LOVE YA, SALLY..

SATURDAY CENTUS..

As usual, I am late with my post to play in SATURDAY CENTUS
with the sweet JENNY..
What is the meaning of the word CENTUS, by the way?
I have been watching my blogging buddy, LYNN, that lives over there with EARL at
play this for a long time.
NOW....I WANNA PLAY, TOO
The rule, as I understand it,
is to write a little ditty about
an idea you get from this photo of FRYING AN EGG ON THE SIDEWALK
in 100 words or less.
Let me see...hmmmmm  ...
My Uncle Otis was coming for a visit and I could hardly wait to see him, him being one of my very favorite uncles.
He lived in California..where the weather was IDEAL...
not too hot...not too cold...
The day we picked him up at the train station, here in West Texas, the temp was 104.
Uncle Otis got off the train, we hugged and he said,
"Well, Jeanie, you know I am a professional chef...don't believe I have
ever fried an egg on the sidewalk but I sure could do it today."
The above is a little true story so it is what came to mind
when I saw this cute egg picture.

I am bringing back one of my favorite and fun PINK posts...
oh, YES...i do love PINK, just as all of you out there...
especially our sweet

BEVERLY at HOW SWEET THE SOUND
HOWEVER....
I am thinking that the folks who live in the houses below might like
PINK, even better than BEVERLY !!
what?? is it possible ??
the most precious little house and just look at that vintage bike !
i want it !!

is this a fairy tale come true or what !!
so awesome, i don't even hve words for it.....
you can tell there's lots of LOVE living here by all the precious hearts !!!
reminds me a little of HANSEL nd GRETEL ...does it you?
and, really....is it a REAL house or computer enhanced?
regardless, it sure is a
PINK HONEY !!
now, ladies,.....this one is a wee bit on the
UGLY side to my eyes.....no...never mind...NOT a wee bit but a ....
WHOLE BUNCH ugly !!
(excuse me if this is YOUR house!! i really didn't mean that it is UGLY........uh....just kiddin'...oh,dear) ....
but....
it's a shade of PINK, and it IS interesting, so it made it to the final cut of this posting! :O)

ok..i see that it is 2 houses...2 UGLY pink houses !
ahhh, this is just fabulous !
so romantic.....
France ?
Italy?
probably New Orleans !!
if so...wonder if it's still there?
not sure what this is but it is so stinkin'  CUTE !!
their sign says, books, videos...
and i love their little picnic table outside.
cuteness all over the place !
look at those little precious balconies up there....
and the little aqua awnings...
O HONEY
where in the world would this be ??
DREAM LAND, maybe !
OK...THIS is waaaay awesome...
a PINK bridge to a lot of PINK houses...
how cute is that !!
just think....
an ENTIRE bridge painted such a luscious shade of PINK !

check it out....their little picket fence is even PINK...
I laughed out loud when I saw the PARKING METER in front of this vintage home....
just seemed like there should be a HITCHING post for the horse drawn carriages...
what can one say about THIS one other than if , all at once, i inherited it,
i would faint and fall over dead !!!
A PINK BEAUTY, INDEED.

FABULOUS NOTE TO ADD HERE FROM A SWEET READER:
Debbie from NJ said...
Oh BJ, these houses are so cute! My favorite is the pink and white one with the gingerbread! That is actually located in Cape May NJ, and I had the pleasure of going inside it about 6-7 yrs ago! It was the most beautiful fu fu store with the prettiest Victorian things! Fu Fu hats with feathers, and gorgeous pictures, and pretties for the bedroom. On the side of the house was a lovely flower garden and we took a picture of our daughter. I have it in my photo grouping, and it is the prettiest! thanks for posting all of these pretty houses!"

"Debbie....POSTING these pretty house was MY PLEASURE...
My thanks to you, you lucky girl for getting to see this beauty in person, for sharing this
IN THE PINK information with us..."

now this PINKIE has GOT to be one that SOMEONE had a LOT OF FUN with !
bet they love it dearly..
it is a show stopper, for sure!!
don't you know whoever lives here has the most sunny disposition in the world.
?
i would LOVE to meet her !!
so much fun !

this biggy looks a little faded on the PINK parts but maybe that is because the
rest of the houses on the page are pretty PINK-PINK !!
faded and a bit COLD....NOT my favorite, at all...
but it IS pink. :)

UMMMMM, this looks, to me, like maybe an aging movie star lives here
in all the PINK splendor....
with a fabulous, winding stairway and a hugh, marble topped round table
topped with a HUGH crystal vase just overflowing with PINK roses in the entry...
and, OF COURSE, the most magnificent chandelier hanging above.....
the butler meets you at the door and directs you to
THE PARLOR (guess what color !! :o)
all done up in fanciness in the most delicious shades of PINK WONDER.....
"Would you like one lump or two?" when the maid serves your delicious tea,
out of the most beautiful ROSE CHINTZ tea pot and dainty cups.
And, of course, tiny little dainty finger sandwiches and the delicious little
PINK SUGAR COOKIES .....

EASY COOKING FOR KIDS

I made this post for a meme several weeks ago  but there were so many parties going on, and I am such a BAD planner, I just.....
missed the party.
I DID...just flat missed it..
So, thought I'd just post it anyway.

It seems my grandgirls like ALL kinds of crafts
but they LOVE cooking.
This beauty is BRYNNA
and she is making
ROLO TURTLE CANDIES
EASY PEASY RECIPE...
Small pretzels
ROLO Chewy Caramels in Milk Chocolate
Pecan halves.
Heat oven to 350.
Line cookie sheet with parchment paper or foil.
Place one pretzel for each pretzel treat desired on prepared sheet. Top each pretzel with one ROLO Chewy Caramel in Milk Chocolate.
♥♥♥
(I had to keep running back to the store 'cause we were eating the ROLOS
faster than she could assemble the candies.)

Bake 3 to 5 minutes or until caramel piece begins to soften, but not melt. Remove from oven; top with pecan half. Cool completely.
NOTE...
A grown-up (like a Memaw) should HELP take the hot cookie sheet
out of the oven....
We want NO BURNS here !
ANOTHER kid-friendly recipe....
PEPPERMINT BARK
GOOD white chocolate
peppermint candies..
peppermint oil, optional.
♥♥
Smash the candies,
microwave the chocolate,
add candy and pour onto a buttered/sprayed cookie sheet.
♥♥♥
When hard, break into pieces.
UMMM UM GOOD.
Kids can make this, put it in pretty plastic bags tied with a candy stripe ribbon,
and have Christmas gifts
MADE ALL BY THEMSELVES.
The kids will it
and the gift-ee will love it even more...
Let's not forget one of our FAVORITE  recipes
PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES
Only 3 ingredients..
1 CUP PEANUT BUTTER....SMOOTH OR CHUNKY
1 EGG
1 CUP SUGAR
♥♥
That's all there is to them and they are delicious.
I've been making them for my family forever
and my grandgirls make them, too.
AGAIN...
it goes without saying that a grownup should be in the kitchen
when taking the cookies out of the oven.
Grandgirls making
PEANUT BUTTER BLOSSOMS
Using the same recipe, just add a
HERSHEY'S KISS
to the center of each cookie.
(It might be NOTED here that you might not want to MASH the dough TOO flat
as your finished cookies will also be.....well......flat. :))
HAVE fun with your kids/grands making these easy recipes...
it just might get them started to be as good a cook as YOU. :)

JUST before I was ready to post this, I got an email from my
sweet, youngest grandgirl, DEEDS...
Now, Deeds is a BUDDING BLOGGER...she LOVES to take photos of FOOD..
*where did THAT come from?*
and she emailed the following photo to me..
JUST IN TIME FOR THE
EASY COOKING FOR KIDS...

"Deeds, this is a BEAUTIFUL salad..
much prettier than I ever make.
You did a fantastic job of making the salad
and
then another GREAT job of taking a photo of it.

Thanks, sweetie girl..
I do love you to the moon and back.
Your Memaw...forever and ever    "
