♫♪...A thrifting we will go...♥♫

Some of you might remember that I bought these dishes at WalMart
last fall...
I was kicking myself wishing I had bought 2 sets and planned on going back and buying more.
THEN...
my favorite thrift haunt,   ♫♪♪ GOODWILL ♪♪
came thru for me and I found another brand new set .....for $10.00
I. WAS. SO. HAPPY.
NOW, I could set a place for 8..
BIG-TIME GRIN
AND today, I found 2 more salad plates..

SET OF 2...$2.OO
still has the brand new sticker on them.

Guess someone just didn't need these two.

I often wonder...well...
heck, I pretty much ALWAYS wonder why someone gives away so many great things.
Many reasons, I suppose...

If people keep giving them to GOODWILL, I may can get another full set...sooo cool...
Actually... I really don't need any more dishes. I am having the devil of a time finding places to put them.
GOOD GRIEF....
...but, what's a girl to do when she LOVES dishes..and loves going thrifting..and has the
THRIFT ANGEL   riding on her shoulders,
pointing the way to all kinds of dish treasures
?
Why....she just goes looking for places to store them...another hutch ?
I think not...NO ROOM..
....any more room UNDER THE BED ?
I think not...NO ROOM

Where do you keep most of YOUR dishes.when your hutch/s are full ?
I love these little tiny white pumpkins.
I want a BIG one to try to do the MERCURY GLASS look on..
anyone know how to do that ?
xoxo

GOOD LUCK..

  1. So as I am reading your post and thinking, oooh, nice dishes...the other part of my brain is saying...you cannot have more dishes...I totally do not have any room for more dishes, glasses, napkin rings...serving dishes...shall I continue? Now you know that won't stop me if I find something I just got to have...but really, somebody should slap me!!

  2. Hi BJ!
I love how you put little notes in your blog title ... can you share how you do it?

That living room in Something's Gotta Give is also my favorite ... I just watched the movie a few weeks ago - for the umteenth time.

  3. Oh how exciting! I have a set of dishes that came from Brookshires grocery store about 20 years ago! I almost sold them at a yard sale because I didn't have enough for my expanding family...between thrift stores and Goodwill..my set is now complete with bowl, gravy boat and pitcher! Woo Hoo! I love finds like that! I'm excited for you!! :-) A girl can not have too many dishes!

  11. Oh, I love your dishes! The colors, and the pattern are so pretty.

I don't think there is any such thing as enough space when it comes to pretty dishes.

  12. Love your new header BJ! The dishes are pretty, I'm glad you found another set! I understand about the lack of space, that's why I had to stop buying things:@)

  13. Awesome find BJ!
I have a set of shelves inthe basement for my overflow, if I didn't have them I don't know where I would store my dishes! I just found a set of brown transferware plates at SA!

  14. It's the wall of books next to the fireplace that totally does it for me in that room!

Congrats on your newest addition. Don't you just love it when you find exactly what you already needed (wanted). Those dishes are wonderful, I love the pattern! Your thrift fairy is very good! LOL!

  15. What a topic, I am currently looking for a buffet that would fit decor-wise into my livingroom! Just for the purpose of housing dishes. I missed those dishes at walmart, they are sure pretty. Hey, there are worse hobbies, right?

  20. What a blessing! I have absolutely no luck at our thrift store. I have been in a big old pout about it recently.

Don't even get me started about wanting... and buying dishes and then needing a place to store them. I can resist new ones. It's the thrifted ones that suck me in. I cleaned out an extra closet in my bedroom, and that's where a lot of mine go.

  21. Love your beautiful purchases and how you co-ordinated it all so perfectly. I really have to ask the question; where do you find room for all your lovely new dishes?
Wish I could, but my space limits me; maybe the answer is to get rid of some. Somthing's gotta give for sure.

  22. Those dishes are so pretty and perfect for Fall! Isn't it fun to find something that wonderful thrifting?? : )
    Love,
    Sue

  23. Those dishes are perfect for Fall! You could try placing them in those rubbermaid totes and storing them in your basement or garage if you don't have any room elsewhere. I do that with some things of mine that I don't use very much. That would keep them dust free too.

  24. BJ -- those dishes seriously tempted me at Walmart but my dish storage is over-flowing...nothing *new* can come in without something going out....that is NOT easy, lol!

    Blessings!

  25. I happen to have those same dishes and I love them! Wish I had more ~ lucky you!

I am also loving that living room in the photo. It took me a few minutes to look at it before moving on to the rest of your post!

  26. First, I love the new look of your blog! And that is a cute Halloweenie button. I have no room for another saucer! Yet I am still collecting pieces of a vintage Noritake pattern! Closets are bursting at the seams here.......I don't know where to put anything. :( xo

  27. Love the great dish set you found for a song. Love the vignette you created with them and the white pumpkins. These would be great for holiday use. I have a storage shortage. If something new comes in something has to go or else you'll see me on the tv hoarders program..........

  29. Hi BJ... I got right on the computer to see if you were affected by that BIG RED DUST STORM! I know how you are suffering out there in that drought.

I bought a few pieces of those dishes two years ago because I loved the coloring, especially for fall. Ended up taking them back...because I also have TOO MANY DISHES and have them stuffed everywhere. If I can't see them I forget I have them :o)

I did keep the napkins because they go with so many of my fall dishes.

  30. Pretty dishes!! I think you need GLASS to do the "mercury-look"...do share if you find another way! And HOW do you get those little "notes" around your words??

    ReplyDelete
  31. Loving all your blog cleverness BJ! I use cake stands in the china closets to make room to stack on top and nestle in below. It helps...a little (:

    ReplyDelete
  32. Holy Cow! GREAT dishes. I love your posts, BJ- You do such a great job with your photos and your words add so much to the images. And I LOVE that you change your header up all the time...it is just perfect!

Now..you need to perfect a place to store more dishes. Extra bathtub???? xo Diana

  33. I know how to do the mercury glass thing on glass but haven't ever heard of doing it on a real pumpkin. Do post the pics if you ever figure it out! Lucky you with the dishes. I just try to look the other way LOLOLOL - no place to store any more.

  34. Love those dishes!!

We have tried to be creative in storing ours. You can see on my blog that we turned a simple billy bookcase into a makeshift china cabinet in the breakfast nook.
