POPOVER for some ROOS

THE last thing I saw on my computer screen last night was...
I sleep so soundly so I'm not sure but I THINK I dreamed of them
ALL NIGHT LONG..
NOW...I have NEVER claimed to be a good cook.
In fact, sometimes it is extremely HARD for me to cook or bake something
anywhere NEAR out of the ordinary.
But, ONCE...
I made POPOVERS

and, altho they didn't come CLOSE to the beauty popover
that KATHLEEN made...
...they tasted great, especially full of APRICOT PRESERVES..
SOOO
this morning, I tried YVONNE'S
JORDAN POND HOUSE POPOVERS
 but once again...

THEY DIDN'T RISE TO THE OCCASION..
bwaaaaaaa...
what am I doing wrong...?....

WHILE I was 'singing the blues' over my little
RISE-LESS popovers, my doorbell rang.

and sitting in my porch swing....a package.
I was blessed enuf to win an AWESOME GIVEAWAY

  1. I have found that if you do use a muffin tin for the popovers, you need to use every other one. Give a space between the popovers for heat to circulate. You also need to grease the tins. No spray! Hope this helps.

  6. Congrats on the win they look perfect at your house. I have never made popovers. I am sure mine would not do right. I am not a good baker.

  8. My mil made fabulous popovers and she said that I needed to use a popover pan as opposed to a muffin pan because the cups were smaller and taller. I've yet to invest in one so I just make her make me some when we get together. Now I have a craving for them....lol....Loved all the sweet things Sheila sent you. That's because you are so special. Take care.

  11. HI BJness! I don't care what you say - I know you're a great cook because every recipe of yours I've tried turns out wonderfully! Your biscuit recipe is 'my' recipe now!
I'm so glad you like your little things I made. I was hoping the taffy wasn't melted in this hot heat. The taffy is made in a little shop downtown and when I buy it, I can't stop eating it! :)

  12. That rain makes me feel I have to run to the Ladies Room, LOL!

    Thanks for the mention.
Did you get your pans hot before you poured the batter in?
As long as they taste good, that's what matters! :)
    Enjoy your gifts!

  14. Oh, I'm so glad you won such a great prize! I just read about Yvonne's popovers and the funny thing is as I told her, our "getting very famous" fancy restaurant is now making popovers from a recipe the owners grew up eating at a restaurant in Maine. I have to check and see if it is the same recipe. I haven't tried making them yet...but you have me curious as to if I can do it.

  15. Oh, I am jealous! You won Sweet Shiela's adorable give-away. How lucky are you? Now I am putting in for yours. Hope I can win! Hugs friend bj. You are the sweetest, Karie

  16. I have a popover pan so I usually have good luck with mine. My particular recipe is emphatic about not turning on the oven until they go in and not touching that door until they come out.

    I love popovers!!!

  17. Those do look soooo tasty. I've never tried to make a popover. What a sweet pot of winnings for you. The pillow cover and tea towels are simply amazing. Maybe you should think about regifting them :) Kidding, kidding.....

  18. I have always been of the opinion that it is how the food tastes not how it looks that makes it a success or not. I haven't made popovers in years, but I'm trying yours soon. I LOVED listening to the rainfall as I read your post. It has been a while since we've had a good rain here. Have a great day. Mickie :)

  24. I LOVE popovers but I would never attempt to make them...they look too difficult and I am afraid failure would make me stop liking them as much!! Yours LOOK good!! How did they taste with the jam?

How sweet that you won the goody box from Shelia {she is such a dear}. The pillow is darling as is the crocheted chicken. Very cute! Don't you love getting packages in the mail?!!

    Have a good night, BJ!

    XO,

  25. Happily, the roosters return for us to admire!

I am imagining a popover with the eggy taste, warm and served with a soft honey butter. A fine treat! I wouldn't worry about a slightly flatter popovers - warm they are excellent too!

  37. BJ,
I haven't tried to make pop overs...but I CAN NOT make yeast breads! They rise ONCE, but then lie flatter than a fritter! That's why you'll only see quick breads On Crooked Creek. Believe me...I do understand!
    Fondly,
    Pat
P.S. Congratulations! The pillow and tea towels look darling in your home! Enjoy!
