I've been playing in these amazing blog parties
and today is fun at
KRISTIN'S.
She asked for DROP CLOTH ideas and when I emailed her saying,
"I have no drop cloth projects...will burlap work?", she kindly said
"It works for me."
Sooo

I've been seeing these fabulous STRIPES all over the place...
I just HAD to try it...
AND...BLONDIE did one and hers turned out SOOOO cute !
The article told me to use a PAINTERS DROP CLOTH...
but, OH NO....I had to use my new love....BURLAP..
Since BURLAP is nubby...not nearly as smooth as a drop cloth, I didn't get
as nice and even paint job as I should...but...
THE NESTER says "It doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful"...
and I believe it.......do you?
There is not much in my whole life that is PERFECT....
**
The following photos show how I might use this crafty thang.....
I used a yard of burlap...and I have NOT CUT IT YET...
It would look pretty cute on my little round breakfast Bistro table...for a change...
**
.......looks pretty cool on a country bench....
It would look pretty cute on my dining table...a country look when I might want a country look...
(REMEMBER....it's not cut and hemmed or even pressed here....)
*note...as I am a TableCloth person...it is so so hard for me to leave my table "nekked"....wonder why that is ??Now, I THINK, if my dining table was a beautiful white, with white chairs, I would LOVE leaving it without clothes !!
"O, Mr. Sweeeet............"
NOTE..6/21/11
I finally DID get white chairs and lovin' 'em....It would even look cute right down the center of my Country French tablecloth...
Spent the whole entire day...this time, I didn't hurt myself while trying to craft...
well....maybe MY FEELINGS...:(AND...BLONDIE did one and hers turned out SOOOO cute !

OR....
I might cut it to make PILLOWS .........
altho, for pillows....I am thinking I might like the DARKER burlap...
Looks great! I love the stripes. I really need to get in decorating mode soon...our house is starting to look dreary and stagnant!
ReplyDeleteLove it, BJ! I like the nubby stripe, and LOVE that Country French tablecloth and dishes!
ReplyDeleteYou sure are the clever one BJ! I love this idea.
ReplyDeleteBJ, I love this! I like the way you've come up with a variety of ways to use this. Makes me want to try one for myself. You are wonderful inspiration, my friend! I love all your beautiful photos. ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteSooo glad you didn't hurt yourself BJ. Great job on the tablecloth - you certainly earned your stripes!
ReplyDeleteI'll be praying for your area that the wildfires are kept away. Have a wonderful day!

Kim
Bj- that is just so cute! I really like the looks of the burlap with the striping...but I know it must have been hard to get it to come out "almost" perfect! Pretty-pretty-pretty. I am a tablecloth person too. Maybe it's our age??? Nahhhh...It is the "finish it up" look that I like! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI love it. It turned out fabulous. Looks so frenchy and your dishes do too. What a great idea and it looks so pretty every place you have it. I see your thumbnail, so maybe it just had a hickup or something. Thanks so much for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty

I think your stripes turned out awesome! I keep wanting to do this too but can't decide what to do with the fabric when I'm done with it! Thanks for sharing:>)
ReplyDeleteAnd the very best thing about your stripes is that they are RED!
ReplyDeleteWOMAN IN THE SCARLET COAT
Woman in the scarlet coat,
Are you heading for a boat?
Or perhaps you need a bus
To get far away from us.
Whether wheels or sails you take
Don’t forget the chocolate cake
To sustain you on your way;
Red-clad damsel, now we say,
“Go with grace, enjoy the ride,
See you on the other side!”

Pretty post, just have one thing to say, what? no chocolate, and no follower either, just gonna have to drop you like a hot potato, only kidding, I really like your blog.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Trisha
The stripes add a neat effect to the tablescape, drawing our eyes to the setting itself if not the food when it arrives. Lovely and sporty all at the same time...
ReplyDeleteOf course, borrow the antique hot-rod Ford Model A truck pictures at your leisure. I hadn't noticed the name!
I remember when we did this!! Fun, fun, fun. I have been looking for another project to do with all that drop cloth I have!!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Simple but beautiful. Love your blog.
ReplyDeleteMaryAnn
I like your cloth - nubs and all!
ReplyDeleteBJ,
ReplyDeleteThis looks terrific. I can't imagine getting such a great look if I attempted it!
The tablecloth and the accessories around it looks great.
