A favorite SUMMERTIME table...

Last year when the cherries were ripe,
I did this tablescape around my big pot of sweet cherries...
I decided to BRING THIS POST BACK  as my entire week is FULL to the brim and
no time for many new posts.
***

I can remember loving cherries when I was a little girl...
still do.

I love how they look in white ironstone.
I guess there's not much of anything that DOESN'T look good in ironstone.

I found this big basket full of
CHEERY CHERRY DISHES....
at my favorite place to shop...
♫♫♪ GOODWILL ♪
But...the strangest thing....there's only 3 LARGE PLATES...
3 DESSERT PLATES...
3 BOWLS... (one was being used at the time of this posting..:))
and
set of salt and peppers
and a spoon rest...
*
I got all this for $10.00 and I will keep looking for more...
I'll bet this was a HUGE set at one time....don't you?
Those adorable and JUST RIGHT FOR THE CHEERY CHERRY DISHES placemats....
$1.00 each , clearance at WALMART..
I made the napkins and tied them with lime green medium rickrack...
Beautiful thrifted stemware...
(see the beautiful quilt in the background...my sweet momma made that for me so many years ago)

PURE CUTENESS...

At the same time I found the CHEERY CHERRY dishes,
I found this beautiful STEMWARE..
funny thing....there's only 3 of them, too !!
hmmmm??
This olden ICE CREAM FREEZER was given to us so many years ago...
I THINK it was in the late '60's or early 70's....
ANYway...it still works like a CHARM.
and...when it QUITS working, I will keep the OLD WOODEN BUCKET.....
I like the looks of it !.. beats me WHY !!
I'm just sayin'.....
Yes, sir....MR. SWEET got that freezer down from the attic and
we made the BESTEST VANILLA ICE CREAM for our sweet kids and grandkids...
*
Now, I know most EVERYone has their own good recipe for ICE CREAM...
and, I, myself, have about a KIZILLION recipes...
but THIS is the one MR. SWEET made for us on MEMORIAL DAY....
*******************
4 CUPS SUGAR
4 EGGS
1 LG. CAN CARNATION EVAP. MILK
1 PINT HALF AND HALF
LOTS of VANILLA
of course, you can add any flavoring, fruit, nuts...
(we just about pitch a hissy fit for BANANA NUT ice cream, at least ONCE during the hot summertime..)
**
Then you just fill up to the FILL LINE on your freezer with milk...
It was really good and we had a Vanilla Cake with True Fudge Icing
but.....I never did get even ONE photo of it...too busy making sure I got a PIECE of it !!
This little tiny bit of frozen heaven is all that was left...
I just nearly didn't even have enuf  left to make a pretty picture for you....
Have a blessed day and know that you are loved.

  7. Well ma'am...did you know we live in the cherry capital of the world, Door Co, Wisconsin? Yes, indeedy! They ship all over from here and you can get cherry anything..lip balm, candy, ice cream, dishes, pie, hmmm...maybe not cherry deodorant..well, maybe even that-not sure.

Love that post and I am about ready to dig our old ice cream freezer out now that it is almost summer here...and finally warm enough to freeze some.

I'll bet that set of dishes got sent to the main distribution center and split up from there. Happens all the time. Sad!

I know your week is busy but I hope it is busy AND wonderful! xo Diana

  14. bj, I love the white ironstone with those gorgeous cherries. It sure has the WOW for a tablescape. And the cherry set was such a fun find, love them. The homemade ice cream looks so good for this heat wave we're in here. Reminds me I need to replace my ice cream maker (mine bit the dust) before the kids come home again for the weekend. Got a little almost three year old grandson we need to introduce to HMIC, I'm sure he'll love it like his daddy did when he was little.. Hope you have a great week doing no telling what!

  17. Oh - boo. I lost my first comment and have to rewrite it. I keep making operator errors! Anyway, what I said was, that I came by to see what photo program you use - realized you have added tabs to your header - visited them and now am more curious about disclosure policies than before. So I'll have to check that out. The blessings you have in your life pour out - cuz you always bless me in turn. Thank you! SO glad I found your blog and you! Thanks, so much! Love, Jenn
