My beautiful flower continues to delight me each morning with a new bloom/
Two flowers opened this morning
and another is just teetering on full bloom.
...maybe tomorrow....
A cool evening just calls for a great big pot of
HOMEMADE VEGETABLE SOUP.
Just like this one.
Adorable cast iron, vintage pan for
CORNBREAD STICKS..
YUMMY....
I added too much batter,
they overflowed over the sides of the pan.
*
AND...STUCK...
bummer !
Just add your favorite veggies,
diced tomatoes,
pasta or rice
beef broth..
favorite spices
anything that you love
... and let it simmer in a crock pot most of the day.
Sooo good..
for the body...
so good for the soul...
I bought this vintage, metal cracker box at an estate sale
and, at first, I put FLOWERS in it......goofy..
Why not use it for the orginial purpose..
to keep crackers fresh.
SO, that is just what I do now.
I just love it.
I can even remember when they were in all the stores, full of crackers.
:))
So, I sat Mr. Sweet and myself a place
and used the ADORABLE paper napkins I found in my Christmas stocking Christmas Eve..
"If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun."......KATHRINE HEPBURN
ooo, I love that !!
and the adorable and full of cuteness
paper coasters
also in my stocking.
Don't you just love these.?
love it....love it...love it...
haaahhhaaaa....
Always.....
ALWAYS we give thanks.
A very little bit of my
PINK STRAWBERRY
birthday cake left...
and NO fresh Strawberries...
they were the first to go.
:)
My very very very favorite birthday card in the whole, entire world...
TRUER WORDS were never spoken.
I believe it with all my heart !

Soup looks good! It's cold here in Colorado, and I should have fixed soup; but, alas, it was just plain chicken and potatoes. I have one of those cracker tins - bought it new with crackers in it, probably in the 1950s. It still holds crackers. Your card and napkins crack me up! BTW, Happy Birthday. Sally
ReplyDeleteBJ,
ReplyDeleteThe soup looks so delicious. If it were minus the pasta. .. it would look exactly like my dear Mother~in~laws delicious homemade soup. Oh, how I miss her, so! Adored all your cute napkins.. .made me smile (again)! We had some left over red velvet cake from the deep freeze. . .yum!
Keep those darling, inspiring and inviting post coming!
Fondly,
Pat
Oh, BJness! Your soup looks so good. I love vegetable soup but have never put pasta in it before. Great idea! :) Love those cute little napkins and the sayings. Now I know why you're the youngest ever - you love life and you do have fun. I just love me some fun, don't you? :)
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

ReplyDeleteLove, love, love your favorite card and words could not be so true.
I'll be right over for some of that soup! Mmmmmm, it looks so delicious. That's the kind of soup I like, nice and thick. Soup with mostly broth can go take a hike! lol Love your cracker tin and isn't it funny how we tend to use these tins for other things instead of what they were orinally made for? The napkins and coasters are absolutely delightful!! hehe Your flower is gorgeous and I love the colour. xoxo
ReplyDeleteThat soup looks delicious! We had vegetable with hamburg last night. I remember buying that Saltine tin when it came out...wonder what happened to it!
ReplyDeleteBJ...this is a perfectly delightful post!! Loving your soup and the cornsticks...total comfort food....love the card and napkins even more, lol :)

Everything from soup to nuts....lol..I love all the cute vintage things. So funny. Beautiful post my friend.
ReplyDeleteIt is always such a delight to visit you, BJ. And I always leave hungry... That soup looks delicious!!! Think I will make some tomorrow. It is certainly soup weather here... cold & snowy.
ReplyDeleteAnd from now on, I will remember the Titanic a new way : )
Those coasters are a hoot.
Oh your soup looks so delicious!! And I remember when you posted that corn pan earlier in the year..well, last year! I think it's so cute! I would like to ask you how you care for your plant. It's so pretty! I got one bloom out of mine and now nothing. The leaves are still green but I don't know if I should trim them down or if that's it for the year. Do they only bloom once a year?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, lovely post! I always enjoy your beautiful blog!

Lovin' your fun Christmas and B-Day goodies, all great words to live by! Enjoy the soup:@)
ReplyDeleteHa ha! I love the "hot dish" one. That's so funny.
ReplyDeleteI think we had one of those cracker tins growing up. If we didn't, my grandmother did because it is very familiar. I'm so glad you used it for it's cracker purpose.
And now, I want some soup.
And I want it with shell pasta too.
YUMMY, Hot soup on a cold day! I bet the cornbread was delicious, especially the part that overflowed:) Have a blessed day my friend! HUGS!
ReplyDeleteOh BJ, that soup looks wonderful and I love seashell pasta! I put it in my tomato soup, too. Making tortilla soup for supper tonight, it's so cold outside that it'll hit the spot and turn on the thermostatz!! Thanks for sharing the menu.

What a great post! Something I use to make everything I bake pop right out of the pan is Wilton's Cake Release. It can be found in the wedding decorations aisle near the cake supplies. I use it on everything and a little goes a long way!
