A TEA and A TART..,

 Big RED, juicy FUJI apples..
all ready for a
TART..
or
TWO..
*
TWO TARTS cooling in the window..
*
apples, sugar, cinnamon, a little flour, a dash of salt, a tiny bit of lemon juice..
a teaspoon of vanilla....
Fuji apples have the thinnest, tastiest and very tender skin, so no need to peel..

...and, I added these wonderful pecan pieces...
they are actually used for ice cream but, lately, I've added them to a LOT of different things..
not to mention I sometimes eat them right out of the cute can...

I had NO INTENTIONS, whatsoever, of making
APPLE TARTS
until I went to visit my sweetest friend
that lives in THAT OLD HOUSE..
Her name is CASS
and she is such a  hoot..
You should see the AWESOME house she lives in...
*
If YOU are hungry for an APPLE TART...
if you have some un-loved, un-used, un-sweetened apples...
Go over to THAT OLD HOUSE,
knock on the door...
*
and I'm pretty sure CASS will open the door
and tell you to COME RIGHT IN..

She just might have the tea kettle on
and fix you a nice, hot cup of FRUITY tea...
She has the recipe all written down for you,
with awesome photos to show you step by step
HOW TO MAKE AN APPLE TART.
**
"Once I had 3 apples...
Cass said why don't you bake a tart.
But I was on my way to chaple
and I didn't want to.......depart !
HA !
YOU thought I was gonna say fart !!
*bright red face and kicking dirt clod...
**
I love you people..
and I love blogging...
and I am having so much fun.
*
HUGS and LOVE to all of you!

  7. BJ, Your tarts look fantastic! I saw those on Cass' blog too and thought about making them. You inquired about the difference between tarts and pies - I didn't know, but I googled tart vs. pie and found a source that says it's the crust/dough. Pie dough is more flakey, tart dough is sturdy and slightly sweeter. Tarts usually are filled with a custard and tarts do not have two crusts. My pumpkin tart (from ButterYum) had used crushed gingersnaps and butter for the crust.
Your photos are lovely, BJ! So glad I had the chance to come to tea today. I'm loving your apple tart!!!
    Hugs, Beth

  10. That looks delicious! I only have two apples, not sure it's enough to make more than a turnover though.

  21. Hi bj, I never did get to visit yesterday but today I have some time to play. I love playing... Your post yesterday was so much fun. Elvis came to Miami when I was about 15. I didn't get to see him so I pretended I didn't care. I CARED!!! Smile.
I too met Johnny Cash after a concert at the UF college where we lived while Bill finished college. He was not at all appealing to me. I think he was on drugs that night. I grew to really love him later on.

Now for that apple tart. I am going to find out the recipe right now. It looks delicious and a friend gave me a bunch of apples off her tree.

Love you bunches my sister friend.

  23. Hahahahaha! OH BJ you are a hoot too. (Which is probably better than being a tart!)

Thanks for linking to Tart Old House --- I mean That Old House!

Yours looks delish! I didn't get to make mine on Sunday after all but will try today --- my dad's going thru another rough patch and it's hard for me to find time to do much of anything, which is why the kitchen painting is taking three weeks!

    Have a great Tuesday ...
    Cass

  29. Hi BJ, I was going thru your posts and saw the one about drop leaf tables. I LOVE the harvest table you painted red - could you tell me what color that is and brand of paint? And how many coats did you have to use? The color would be perfect in my bedroom. Thanks, and have a great week!
