Just a smattering of fallish things....

SUNFLOWERS...
A FALLISH THING....

SMATTERING....a small scattered number or amount.
*
Nothing says fall like APPLES...
*
Mr. Sweet and I generally go APPLE PICKIN'
at our local apple orchard sometime in September..
whenever they are RIPE for pickin'..
Small apple trees but big-flavored apples...
They are so beautiful, they look FAUX....
ahhhh...but they are the REAL THING..these are from last September..
*

This is the cutest little handpainted basket that I picked up at a craft show
several years ago.....
*It's just PERFECT for holding beautiful, red apples..
*
A delicious piece of Carmel Apple Pie and...
I'm in LUV....
*
I love ya'll so I MUST be honest and say....
I DIDN'T MAKE THIS....
*
A friend brought it to my cottage and may I just say...
OH HONEY
*
I hope that I am not the ONLY person in the whole wide, entire world
that absolutely LOVES a slice of MELTED cheese on her slice of APPLE PIE....
This is the way my DADDY liked it and anything HE liked, I liked...
and still do.
*

I'm tellin' ya true...It is soooo good.
*
I generally prefer a slice of SHARP CHEDDAR
but ANY cheese..like this PROVOLONE, will taste good...wonderful...luscious...yummy ...
*
TRUST ME on this one....It really is good...TRY IT !
***********

and why a great CROCK reminds me of FALL....I'm not sure.
UNLESS.....it's the fall grasses used in these photos....;>)

I love this photo...it looks 3-D...
**
I went to visit my EAST TEXAS cousin a few years back
and he took me to the MARSHALL POTTERY FACTORY.
OMGosh...
they had some of the most awesome crocks around.
I bought daughter, daughter in law and myself one of these awesome beverage servers.
***

Altho we eat soups year 'round, my thoughts start turning to them more often, come September. ......
WHY IS THAT ??
I made a Potato Soup and Hot Water Cornbread for lunch today and IT WAS A GOOD THING!
If you've never made HOT WATER CORNBREAD...please..PLEASE DO......Y.U.M.
This is that plant that starts out green and as it gets closer to FALL, the little flowers start turning PINK and then to a dark orange......YEP....every thing is saying it won't be long until Fall is here, officially...
September 23rd was the FIRST DAY OF FALL...
but...with temps still in the high 80's out here on the PLAINS OF WEST TEXAS, we are still
KNEE DEEP in summer.
I LOVE this stage of the flower...such a luscious shade of PINK...
BUT....

...it won't stop changing until it's almost BROWN...
...and THEN it will be FALL.
AUTUMN JOY.....
*
O.....and do you see the little bees ??
They were just swarming all around..that one on the bottom left is just about to fall off, I think.

  11. Hot water cornbread! I must try it! My phamily loves soup once fall settles in. Yummy! We have a Montel Williams Living Well blender/juicer and it blends everything so making soup will be a breeze this fall/winter. Ah...
Ilove cheese on apple pie. I prefer sharp cheddar too but must try some different varieties. Hugs Anne

  28. Hi BJ!

I always think of Autumn Joy as starting out looking like broccoli -- and I also like the pink stage best, because so do the Monarch butterflies. Love them! The bees? not so much.

How do you make hot water cornbread?

    I'm intrigued.

And that caramel apple pie? Oh, be still my heart! I'll skip the cheese, although if I had to use it, it would have to be Vermont cheddar, white and VERY sharp.

    Cute post!

  32. As usual you treat us to a big assortment of goodies. I would like some of that fresh baked apple pie. I was just by the Marshall Pottery this week. I still have ties in East Texas.

  33. Absolutely beautiful post!!! You should list the recipe for that apple pie. It looks devine. My family jokes that when I do make apple pie I should make 3...one for the family, one for my mom and one for my oldest daughter. My mom and 14 yr old each want their own! Imagine that! And I love those apples. I found a recipe for praline apple bread and have been wanting to try that! Love, love, love your post!!! Thanks for sharing!
