A RIDE OF A LIFETIME...

JUNEAU, ALASKA..

Our daughter and son scheduled this

AWESOME HELICOPTER ride out to a GLACIER for us !!

MENDENHALL GLACIER

OMGosh ! We are just about to go up...
ON A GLACIER...!!
Never, in my wildest dreams, did I think Mr. Sweet and I
would actually sit our feet down on...A GLACIER !
*
Lifting UP UP and AWAY....
*
Can you believe that MOI got to ride UP FRONT...
Great Balls of Fire...
this was so beautiful, I will never, ever be able to tell you....
My photos don't even come CLOSE to the beauty we saw that day....
*

Our adorable little pilot...SHO..
He said, "Like SHOW me the money"....
I leaned back and told MR. SWEET not to forget to TIP him !! ;>)
I have over 250 photos taken on this helicopter ride...
but will only show a few...
Don't wanna bore my sweet friends...
and I SO hope that ya'll get to see all this some day...
Start saving your money RIGHT THIS MINUTE...because, I PROMISE,
YOU WILL LOVE IT !!
*
To tell you the truth...
it actually was so MAGNIFICENT
I cried most of the time I was up there.
It was just so very humbling to be able to see
THAT MUCH OF GOD'S WORK....ALL AT ONE TIME.
Overwhelming !
SHO kept asking if I was okay...
so I TRIED not to bawl and squall out loud...
*

On the way back, I rode beside MR. SWEET...
still SILENTLY shedding tears...
I am getting a lump the size of NYC in my throat, just thinking about it.
*
THIS is the glacier....

Can you believe this TEXTURE ?
Me, either !!!
*

These photos HAVE NOT BEEN RETOUCHED nor altered in any way...
The melting glacier IS THAT BLUE.
THAT PURE...
THAT AIRLESS..
.
I was looking at it with my own two eyes and STILL couldn't believe how BLUE it was.
*

SHO said because it had no air or impurities, the water stayed this blue.
He chipped off a little of the GLACIER, that's it in his hand...
*
I put a piece of it in my mouth and he said,
"OMG, woman ! You didn't put that in your mouth, did you?"
*
I nearly p'd all over my self, thinking, "worms"....
Then he just died laughing...
said, "just teasing ya!"
THANKS, SHO...I nearly had a heart attack!!
*
It kinda reminded me of the MOON....or....MARS....
just so pretty !!

Well....just had to show you that we ate ICE CREAM while in ALASKA...!
**
SHE rode this same helicopter ride...
and
I am thinking .....
"MY butt sat in the same spot as HER butt..."
*
NOW, I ask you.....
HOW SPECIAL IS THAT !!!!
BUTT-CHEEKING WITH ROYALTY!

You took some gorgeous shots too! I can't believe you and Mr. Sweets are standing on that glacier! Oh, that's marvelous. Did your tiny feet freeze off?
Mr. Precious and I had a helicopter ride in Hawaii once. I was so scared! But it was just the smoothest ride and like a dream. I'll bet yours was the same way!

  16. On a cruise to Alaska, a few years ago.we also went on the helicopter ride to Mendenhall Glacier. It was September and we were able to visit the summer camp for the sled dogs. As major dog people, it was one of the best experiences of our life. We got to hold some tiny Huskie puppies. And, the helicopter ride was awesome. My husband rode "shotgun" and loved it!

  26. Good morning BJ, boy your flight to the glacier is so wonderful. We took that same trip to that glacier when we were in Alaska. I wonder if I butt cheeked with you and Diana. Laughing at you here. You come up with the funniest things in blogging print. That is one of the reasons I love you girl. I am so happy you could experience such an awesome thing as standing on a glacier. You have wonderful thoughtful children BJ. Blessings to them for giving you this awesome trip.

Love your post today and you too.

  38. Butt cheeking with royalty!? Lol, you "crack" me up! The phots are amazing and I wish I were there right now instead of sitting in this 97 degree heat wave up here in Michigan! The texture if the glacier IS amazing, it looks like crinkled paper! I love seeing these, I know this would be a dream come true trip for my husband and now I would love to go too!

  46. Hello BJ my dear!
I am so happy you enjoyed Alaska like you did... One can't articulate how amazing it is... you just have to experience it! Now imagine being in Juneau all summer and cooking on a beautiful 70 yacht all week. Surrounded with all that amazing scenery! I used to scoop out glacier pieces with the net... bring them into the galley and chip off pieces and make the guests drinks with hunks or glaicer. Then I would use the rest for the dinner buffet table "Ice Sculpture" The pure ice is beautiful, lasts a long time and it was a unique experience for my guests! I cracked up at Sho, teasing you like that! That is the purest water on earth.
I just love looking at your photos and reading about your experiences!
    Rainey
