PINK SATURDAY HAUNTED HOUSE......booooo

Many thanks to our friend, BEVERLY, for this PINK-A-BOO DAY...

booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

......boooooooooo

***********************************************************
The Winchester Mystery House is a well-known California mansion that was under construction continuously for 38 years, and is reported to be HAUNTED.
***
It once was the personal residence of Sarah Winchester, the widow of gun magnate William Wirt Winchester, but is now a tourist attraction. Under Winchester's day-to-day guidance, its "from-the-ground-up" construction proceeded around-the-clock, without interruption, from 1884 until her death on September 5, 1922, at which time work immediately ceased.[2] The cost for such constant building has been estimated at about US $5.5 million[3] (if paid in 1922, this would be equivalent to almost $70 million in 2008 dollars).[4]

The mansion is renowned for its size and utter lack of any master building plan. According to popular belief, Winchester thought the house was haunted by the ghosts of individuals killed by Winchester rifles, and that only continuous construction would appease them. It is located at 525 South Winchester Blvd. in San Jose, California.

*****
My AUNT LILLIAN lived in SAN JOSE, CA. in the 50's
and I spent 2 weeks with her one summer.
She took me to see this MYSTERY MANSION
and it is without a doubt, like nothing I had ever seen before or since.
The STRANGEST house on the planet....and so so interesting...
**
It has ALWAYS been thought that ghosts of people killed by the Winchester rifles
roamed throughout the entire mansion.... and that MRS. WINCHESTER thought that the only way to keep them from haunting her was to have continous building to her house. Never mind that most of it made no sense whatsoever !
***

This is one of the rooms that I remember so well...the ball room..... it's a BEAUTIFUL room but I was so busy looking around, hoping to see a ghost, that I barely saw the room !!
**

No building plans and the urgent need the lady of the house felt to keep construction going,
there were doors that lead to NOWHERE...
there's TALL doors....and SHORT doors...
doors that were useless....
**
I remember opening one door that had a solid brick wall behind it....strange, indeed...
it kinda made the hair on the back of my neck stand up !!
boooooooooo

Now, some might say this photo above is of a ghost... NOT ME, THO!!
****
These stairs lead right to the ceiling...and then...there ya are!
***

Everything with the pinkish roof is THE house....
****

But, how can a house THIS beautiful harbor GHOSTS ???
***

Noooo....I don't believe in ghosts.....

except maybe on HALLOWEEN NIGHT......booooooo
******
If you haven’t found enough spooky things to do in Sacramento, one of the most famous haunted houses in the U.S. is only a couple hours drive. The Winchester Mansion is located at 525 S. Winchester Blvd, San Jose, CA
*
So if you are looking for some ghostly fun ,they are having flashlight tours on Friday, October 31, Halloween night. The tours of the 160 room mansion are conducted with only moonlight and the flashlight each person will receive at the beginning of the tour. Tickets are $43 and you can buy them online; it is probably a good idea to do that before you make the drive because I hear they sometimes sell out on spooky occasions like this.

OCTOBER 19TH HALLOWEEN PARTY

HERE it is....THE DAY BEFORE HALLOWEEN, 2010
**
Several friends emailed to ask if I would
repost  this HALLOWEEN tidbit...
so HERE 'TIS....
*

This has always been one of my favorite holidays...
I so enjoyed it as a kid.....then...with my kids...and now.....GRANDkids...
*
******
My mother and my AUNT LILLIAN always dressed me up as a gypsy woman...
A scarf around my long black hair, lots of eye makeup and lipstick..Oh, I was lovin' this at the age of 7 and 8....
lots of jewelry, long skirt.....I felt just beautiful.....
*******
"The day is often associated with orange and black, and is strongly associated with symbols like the jack-o'-lantern. Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, wearing costumes, ghost tours, bonfires, costume parties, visiting haunted attractions, carving jack-o'-lanterns, pranking people, reading scary stories, and watching horror movies."
*******
Yes, I always dressed like a gypsy woman....i always thought they were so pretty....
****
BUT...FOR THIS PARTY....

......IT'S SUPERGIRL....with the shapely legs and tiny feet.....
****

MISS LUCY LOOSE is our guest of honor at this part of THE party...
come on it and join us before a nice, warm fire in the FRANKLIN wood burning stove...
We have our table right in front of the fire so you will stay warm...it turned COLD
out here in West Texas...
(well, for THIS day, anyway..a cold front blew thru and right on to somewhere else)
remember...this was 2009

I've set the table in the grandest of HALLOWEEN magicalness....
NEVER, NEVER anything scary....OH, NO...NEVER SCARY !!
***
We like "fun and colorful"
for HALLOWEEN....
********
OH, here's MARSHMALLOW GHOST-WANNA-BE...
we're so glad you could come and join in this fun party, MARSH.....
***
MARSH chose a chair right in front of that roaring, comfy fire....
and check out that ghostly smile....he is SO happy to be here...and warm!!
He is usually hanging around out on the front porch at this time of year...
****

EXCUSE ME, Miss Lucy....it is VERY impolite to
READ AT THE TABLE...
especially when there's a ghostly guest...
this IS a party, you know.
Even if you are reading a really great magazine..COUNTRY LIVING with some of the BEST Halloween recipes in it...
IT WILL HAVE TO WAIT....!!
***I hope you like the ceramic pumpkin I bought last year at WALGREEN...
*

AHHH HA!! I am so glad to see you put away the magazine and have made friends with MARSH....
***
We are all so glad you came by to see us on this
DAY BEFORE HALLOWEEN....
