FRIDAY BREAKFAST IN BED.....

THIS painting is titled BREAKFAST IN BED by Mary Stevenson Cassatt
(May 22, 1844 June 14, 1926) Despite her family's objections to her becoming a professional artist, she began studying painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (1861-1865). She decided to study the old masters on her own and in 1866 she moved to Paris.

***************************************************************

REMEMBER ??
A COUPLE WEEKS AGO, I PROMISED Y.O.U.
BREAKFAST IN BED....
SO...
lets get started....

*

SWEET GOLLUM is once again hosting this
FABULOUS FOODIE FRIDAY....
Our thanks to her for doing this fun event. Be sure to
go over and tell her so, and leave sweet words for her.
There will be so many goodies out in Blogland today.....
visit them all, if you can and I can PROMISE that
you will go away HUNGRY !!
Thank you very much for stopping by my place today !
* I AM SO IN LOVE FOODIE FRIDAY...
It is so much fun getting all ready for it !
As all of you know, I am NO gourmet cook....I surely wish I could be........just like GOLLUM *sigh...
But, alas, my cooking was learned from my mother and my Aunt Lillian and while both
were fabulous cooks, nothing fancy ever came out of their kitchen.
Hence, being the off-spring, I produce nothing very fancy, either...*heavy sigh.....
*
Just plain, down-home cooking that Mr. Sweet Nothings and our children have
always seemed to appreciate and love....'course, it was either that or STARVE !! ;>)
*
I plan to learn to prepare some PRETTY foods someday, though...
and then, I will SHOW IT ON
FOODIE FRIDAY....
but, please, because I love you dearly,
DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH !!
I"m afraid RED BEANS and CORNBREAD ;
just plain, ole country cookin',
is just in my blood !!

NOW...are you ready to start your "in the bed' breakfast ??

Let's start the morning with a DELICIOUS, FULL-BODIED cup of the best coffee in the world...
DUNKIN DONUT COFFEE...
If you've not tried this brand before, PLEASE give it a go...
It is just delicious !!
I like plenty of flavor from my coffee but I don't care for a STRONG coffee...
this one......just right !
*
I have the simple but very tasty breakfast all ready for you....
while I get it on the plate,
just cuddle down in that warm, soft bed, drift back off to sleep,
finish that wonderful dream....do you smell the LAVENDER I sprinkled
on your comfy pillow ?
*
I'll be serving your
BREAKFAST IN BED
on my vintage, wicker bed tray....
*
KNOCK KNOCK.......Pssssst.....are you awake yet ?
The sun is beginning to stream through the windows
and it looks like it is going to be a GLORIOUS day out here
in WEST TEXAS.....
*
I made fresh BISCUITS this morning...
and crispy fried BACON.
Oh, and there's
Julienne SWEET POTATO FRIES...ummm, oh, so delicious.
They aren't fried but cooked in the oven for a healthier fare.
And, jelly.....with biscuits there should ALWAYS be JELLY..
this morning it is PEACH ...I hope you like peaches!
*
In case you are wondering, "Where are the eggs?".....
Unless I am FORCED, and that means if a knife is held at my throat or a
bad boy gun aimed at between my brown eyes...
I DON'T DO EGGS...!!!!
no siree....
If Mr. Sweet Nothings wants an egg in the mornings, he poaches
one in the microwave....they are just not my thing...NOPE...don't do windows
and don't do EGGS...
ok...i do windows !
*
HOWEVER, if you REALLY, REALLY want an egg...I'd be happy to
see if MR. SWEET NOTHINGS will cook one for you !! ;O)
*
I have your little tiny vintage glass full of fresh ORANGE JUICE...
a bowl of fresh, red STRAWBERRIES, drizzled with CHOCOLATE and
your morning paper...!
*
Are you ready for another cup of that
great coffee.....?
Allow me.....in fact, I'll just sit down here
on the side of the bed and have a cup with you !!
Oh, and by the way, have you ever had the pure pleasure
of a dollop of VANILLA BEAN ICE CREME in your
hot cup of coffee ??
Oh! HONEY
*
Do you see that I covered you with my beautiful
RED AND WHITE QUILT
from FRANCE ?
*
OOOO, OK....it REALLY is from
J.C. PENNEY'S but it is just as beautiful as if it
WERE from France...
and Mr. SWEET calls it
jc pen'nay....*giggle
*

You must be
VERY special for me to let you use my
favorite quilt in the whole wide world...
and.....YOU ARE !!
VERY, VERY SPECIAL !
*
I do hope you enjoyed your
BREAKFAST IN BED
here at SWEET NOTHINGS COTTAGE....
I know I sure enjoyed you being here...
PLEASE come again....
ANY TIME !!
**
The coffee is ALWAYS on, my blue and white dishes are always ready
and I can put fresh sheets on the bed in an instants notice....
ALL FOR YOU !
***
XO bj
*
AND I AM AWARE THIS IS
FRIDAY, THE 13TH.....
so maybe.....just MAYBE....
you had better just
STAY IN BED !!
hmmmm.....what would you like for LUNCH ??
:>)
BOOOOOOO........

  30. Breakfast looks wonderful BJ.

I learned cooking from my mother and granny. Granny had a small red metal step stool beside the stove. I can remember sitting there watching her cook, when I was still too small to cook. I learned a lot sitting on that little step stool. I've seen them in resale shops and always think of Granny when I do.

    Great post!

  48. Well, I do feel completely spoiled now! I'm with ya on those eggs...
My brother and SIL used to tell me that when I was around 5 yrs. old, I would stuff them down the sides of the little "booth" seats they had at their house. Well, that's what happens when you tell a kid they can't get up until they clean their plate. LOL I have no rememberance of this! :-) Those sweet potato fries looked sooo yummy! And I love your darling china and vintage orange juice glass! Wonderful, fun post! Susan

  49. BJ, I passed up a wicker bed tray like the on in your photos last week. I saw it at the thrift store for $4.00. It needed cleaning and repainting. But I wish I had got it now. I think I'll go back and see if they still have it. Your photos are lovely. And the breakfast looks scrumptious.
