PRESIDENT BUSH and MRS. BUSH,
Enjoy your new home in Dallas as you begin your private life together again. There you can go to bed early, as you are wont to do, without having the very weight of the world on your shoulders, and just savor the company of the beloved mate whom God has graciously and lovingly given to you.
How blessed you are...and how blessed we have been to have you leading us and providing such a wonderful example for us all! We will miss you more than words can say.
This country will not fully realize what you have done for us until you are gone from public view, but some of us DO understand what we have had, and we will mourn what we have lost when you are gone.
We can never fully describe what you have meant to us, but know that we admire and respect you in a way that is inexpressible and rare. You have blessed and enriched our lives, and we will be forever thankful to God for loaning you to us for these past eight years.

*NOTE ADDED: this is an email that came to me from a good friend. These words are just what I would write if I could do this good a job. I feel deeply about every single word written here and I know in my heart that we have never had nor will ever have again, in my lifetime, as good a Christian man as GEORGE W. BUSH to lead our country.
my love and respect.....
bj
This is my first visit to your blog and my heart is blessed already! I too admire and respect President and Mrs. George W. Bush. I also admire you! Just a brief visit to your blog tells me you are a gracious and loving lady who cares about the simple things in life that really matter: faith, family and friends. God bless you!

Lovely post and tribute!
ReplyDeleteThis was beautiful, BJ ... I wish President and Mrs. Bush could read it. I know your heartfelt words would mean a lot to both of them.
ReplyDeleteI am going to miss President George W. Bush, and the secure feeling I had knowing that he was doing all that could be done to keep us and our beloved country safe.
I couldn't wait to get up this morning and leave you a comment BJ. I wanted to tell you how much I agreed with you yesterday and how much I respected G.W. Bush when the bad press was so brutal to him. He did a job few men can do and he did it with love and concern for the American people and the USA. This post today says it all about a president that deserved more. God bless Laura and George W. Bush. Thank you for a wonderful tribute to The 'First Family' of eight years. They will always be first with me.
ReplyDeleteHugs...Jeanne
Good morning, BJ -
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post! I, too, will miss them. My tears began yesterday as they stood at the door of the helicopter and waved goodbye. I, too, wish they could read what you have written.
~Adrienne~
I agreee with you 100%. I wish our current president good luck and I don't wish any harm to come to him. However, as a Republican I certainly do not agree with many of his platform ways...namely abortion!
ReplyDeleteMay he just seek God inn all his decisions as he heads up the most powerful country in the world.
Amelia - A Republican and better yet a Southern Baptist
Good morning BJ...I think President Bush was dealt the worst conditions ever to deal with in his 8 years...One thing that stands out in my mind is that as awful as the media was to him, I don't remember them attacking Laura at all...never trashing her look, her clothes, her hair, her behavior...but how could they?...she is a lady through & through...I, too, pray for their "golden years" to be long and happy. Love ya, Bo
ReplyDeleteOh BJ, I just love your post today! I was so sad yesterday to see George & Laura say goodbye. I think our country will someday soon realize what we'll be missing without George at the healm!
ReplyDeleteSmiles,
Carol
I love that!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderful tribute to President Bush. I agree with what you said. I pray that history will eventually show all the good he did for our country. I have long admired his strong Christian principles.
ReplyDeleteThere's a wonderful article in the Wall Street Journal Jan 19,2009 entitled "History will Remember Bush Well" by Marc A. Thiessen. Google it and read it. I printed it up.
Blessings.
I wish President Bush and Laura all the best. It must have been very hard for them to leave yesterday but they did it with grace and honor.
ReplyDeleteWhat touching photos you have of President and Mrs. Bush. I am so touched during the inauguration process watching the change of hands so to speak. As the helicopter takes off and the new President and First Lady stand and wave goodbye. What a moment for all!
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine how lovely it will be for them to wake up this morning and know that they can lead their own lives again:-) Beautiful touching pictures of them. xoxo
ReplyDeleteAmen and Amen! This speaks for me too. Thanks for sharing it. I'm copying it and emailing it to my list.
ReplyDeleteI also want to thank President Bush for keeping us safe these past 8 years. He's a true Christian man and that's important to me also. I believe he has been blessed these past years and wish him well in his life. I also know that no one except God is in charge of this world and he'll be in charge no matter what, honey.
ReplyDeleteSmooches,
Connie
I love this post and the previous post about Obama!
ReplyDeleteI am with you...I did not vote for him, but I will do my best to hope and pray that he does what is best for our country.
As for President Bush and his beautiful wife, I hope history judges him well and gives him the respect he deserves!
Beautiful. I love this!
ReplyDeleteThe buzz on TV and in blogs is how sylish Mrs. O is but to me Mrs. Bush was way more stylish...I remember wishing I had her figure and poise. That is a great picture of her!
ReplyDeleteBlessing's♥
What a lovely post. Laura is my very favorite first lady and the photo is so great. I hope that history will treat Mr. Bush better than the press did. Each man who becomes president is placed there by God. Our job is to pray and to show respect for God's choice. I was thinking yesterday as they left that now they could take a big deep breath and have some quiet alone time. Mr. President and Laura I wish you Godspeed on your new journey.

I saw a picture of President Obama and Michelle and President Bush and Laura taken yesterday, side by side. The Bush's both had amazing smiles on their faces...I think because they knew they were going back to a "normal" life. The Obama's both looked serious almost as if they knew what hardships they were going to have to attend. It was very telling. I respect any president...it is an amazingly hard job. Thank goodness we have wonderful people like the Bush's and the Obama's that step up to the plate.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Penny
I wouldn't want to be president for anything, BJ, but I thank God there are those who do and who make that sacrifice. Teddy Roosevelt said, it's not the critic who counts but rather the man in the ring who has blood streaming down his face. I think years from now we will see just what Bush had to face in the long, horrible ordeal of facing terrorists and other threats to our country. I think he said that the rest of us moved on after 9/11, but as the president, he had to be the watchdog for us ever after. We owe him a debt of gratitude for that.
ReplyDeleteI said this in the post below, but I think he and Laura were so very gracious yesterday. They apparently did everything in their power to make a smooth transition for the Obamas. And those embraces looked genuine. :-)
XO,
Sheila :-)
Oh YES YES YES ! :)
ReplyDeleteWhatt a sweet post :)
Please, go to our blog and pray for my boss and spread the news to all.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post! What a wonderful man of God he is, and how he will be greatly missed! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day!
THANK YOU! You are just a sweetie and twin and I just love ya. I knew we could count on you.
ReplyDeleteHi BJ, how lovely of you to visit and you always say such sweet things. Mr. Bloom and I are fine, thank you so much, hope you and your family are too!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Lucy x
That is a beautiful post BJ and the pictures are so touching.
ReplyDeletePresident Bush was a president who was treated very badly while he was in office and I hope and pray that he and Laura can now enjoy their life together.
Hi BJ...I hope you don't mind, I borrowed your button for the twins to add to my sidebar...Hugs, Bo
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing it has been for the past 8 years to observe this exemplary couple do exemplary work! It is so extraordinary and exciting yet so normal. This marvelous couple has been subjected to some of the ugliest abuse in the country's history - -
ReplyDeletefalse and vile rumors and unmitigated hatred - - and yet they have endured with an abiding peace and joy. They have endured through
the grace of God, through Jesus Christ, and because of their faith and prayer, and the prayers of people all around the world
who understand what a blessing God has given us in these two. They have
endured because of the love of family, including those two lovely daughters
they brought up in faith and love and now a great son-in-law, extraordinary parents and the love of
millions of Americans who see who they really are.
I am going to miss them yet I am so happy for them that they are still young and healthy and will continue to enjoy and enrich this wonderful country.
Indeed we have been Blessed!
If only the next administration does as well. I pray they do.
JOAN...what beautiful words you left here for Pres. Bush and Laura. Thank you so much...I agree with every single word you so sweetly left.
ReplyDeletehugs, bj
There are so many wonderful comments about the Bushes that I don't feel I could add more, but just say "amen" to them. Joan's comments were especially touching and good as well as many others. The Bushes deserve a blessed rest and wonderful retirement. I'm afraid I could not have endured their abuse so graciously. They are "the real deal". Thanks, Jean, for this post. I wish they could read it and all the comments.
ReplyDeleteLove you!
Martha
We will truly miss this great President. The media has been so disrespectful towards our Commander in Chief. My family has fought and served this great country since the Revolutionary War. We did not shed our blood for those to spit & curse our capital. I didn't agree with President Clinton but I respected his position. Thank you, President Bush and May God bless you and your family for your good works. Let our prayers be heard for the next four years and may we (as a nation) turn back to God.
ReplyDeleteHi BJ... Yes I recieved this email and it was beautiful... I am glad that you posted it.. No matter what he is still a loving husband & wonderful father... Very touching post. Love ya
ReplyDelete(((HUGS)))
Donna
I love this post! So well said.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great tribute. I really enjoyed the sentiments and like you, if I could, I would have said the same.
ReplyDeleteI have been reading these tributes to George Bush and more or less praising him for his 8 years as president. Let me add my 'thank you' also, for the state of the economy that you have left us. Always wanted to know what a drepression is all about. Thanks for your legacy of incompetence and for sending our young men to war to be killed for no reason. Thanks for all you have done to hinder science and for lowering the respect America used to have around the world. With the level you have established for the presidency, no future president will have any problem doing better.
ReplyDeleteAMEN !!
ReplyDeleteHi BJ. Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog today. Hugs to you too.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is the end of an era and the beginning of a new one. I personally would have voted for Obama. I also don´t agree with everything he says he wants to do. But we just have to wait and hope and pray it will all turn out for the best. Many hugs to you, friend across the ocean ♥
Marian
BJ
ReplyDelete9/11/01 the USA was forever a changed nation. 9/12/01 George W. did the right THING for THE FREE world. WE were never again attacked under his watch. I thank all those who have served under his COMMAND...and for those that are still over in Iraq and Afghanistan may GOD bless you as the new adminastraion begins. Thank you
Marie
I love this post, BJ. I felt so bad for George and Laura Bush yesterday when he was announced and he didn't get alot of applause and some people were booing him.
ReplyDeleteWhether everyone agrees with the way he ran the country or not, he gave up 8 years of his life and he kept us safe from terrorist, and he did what he thought was best.
I loved his speech when he got back home to Midland Texas yesterday. He made the transition for the new family a smooth one, and did it with class.
BJ - Your post is lovely. I was fortunate to see Laura Bush (in person). She was the keynote speaker at a conference that I attended in Orlando, FL. She was so sincere and a wonderful speaker. She is truly a lady and George Bush is a gentleman. I wish them happiness as they begin this new journey in their lives.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sweetie
"W" and Laura Bush are both very classy people. I will miss them and Texas is lucky to get them back!
ReplyDeleteAMEN! It was beautifully written and I loved the pictures.
ReplyDeleteI am so thankful for their service and the long hours they both put forth in keeping our country safe and for his great integrity.
I like Janie, wish the Bush's could read it!
May they truly enjoy some time to spend together with out the weight of the world on their shoulders.
What a wonderful tribute to a truly wonderful couple...I wish they could read it...I'm sure they'd be pleased!
ReplyDeletehugs
Sandi
I loved this post. Thank you so much for sharing this. laurie
ReplyDeleteBj ... I'm so sad to see our president leave, but I know that he will be able to spend more time with his beautiful wife and enjoy their years together in peace.
ReplyDeleteI hope and pray that Obama is the leader that they think he will be, because with the mess that another former president left for us (you know who that is), we are going to need a strong man in that seat. I also hope that he keeps our country safe. These are scary times and I don't envy our new president one bit.
Happy Birthday to Deeds :)
love,
ruzzer
Hi BJ,
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful post and tribute to Pres. Bush and Laura! I couldn't have said it any better.
Thanks for sharing,
:) Diane
Hi B.J. I LOVED your post today! I agree 100% with you and most of the other lovely people who added their comments. Too bad the only "lousy" comment didn't even have the guts to leave their name! Seems to be a lot of that going on these days! I guess they didn't have parents who told them "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all". President and Mrs. Bush are a gracious and kind couple, and we all wish them well.

Hi BJ, Thank you for this post. Judging from the positive comments (well, except for one who bravely left their name off), we wholeheartedly agree with you. History will certainly show us the amazing job Pres. Bush was able to do for our Country---Pres. Truman left office with low approval ratings and history has certainly shown US what a great job he did.
ReplyDeleteYes, time really is the great judge as far as a Pres. goes---that certainly includes our new Pres. Obama, too.
I also wish Pres. Bush and Laura a wonderful retirement---and I also thank them for their unwavering service to our country.
Dana
I'm so glad you did this post BJ...I'm sick of reading all the negative remarks buried in the Obama posts these last few days. Thanks for thanking a man and woman who served our country!
ReplyDeleteI also respect and admire President Bush and feel God placed a man such as him in the time he did to get us through.
ReplyDeleteBetty
What a lovely post..... and what a sweet picture of them...... He did protect us ...... and I really believe he loved us..... and that Laura is a jewel.... such a beauty
ReplyDeleteHUgs
Linda
Amen.
ReplyDeleteHello Bj~How touching this post is. I loved the example BOTH President Bush's were to their wives for the world to see. They never hide their faith in God and stood tall. I will miss them also but grateful he served well and now enjoying a "retired" life together! Thanks for the reminder Bj!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Maryjane
I am just now seeing this post. I will truly miss George W. Bush, he was a true Gentleman and not nearly as stupid as everyone tries to make him out to be.
ReplyDeleteMy opinion, anyone can read a speech off a telepromter and seem smart. But G W Bush, was a bright and loving man who didn't use a telepromter, but delieveried his speech on his own...he also kept us safe after 9/11.
He and Mrs. Bush deserve to relax and be happy. History will reveal what a truly great President he was.
