I USED TO GET THE BLUES ON MONDAY....

but, since SMILING SALLY has come into my life with her hosting of
BLUE MONDAY
I no longer am SINGIN' THE BLUES........
OOOO, Thank you, Sally, for hosting this wonderful day....
Be sure to stop by as there seems to be a lot of BLUE in the air....
*
I received the prettiest calendar from BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER ....
we have started a tradition of gifting each other with a lovely calendar each and every Christmas...
JANUARY says:
"But exhort one another daily, while it is called Today."
Hebrews 3:13
*I hope I can remember, each month, to share a picture and a scripture with you...
I will try !
thank you so much, SALLY girl...
*
*
this cute little SALT and PEPPER set with the precious, little tray
was given to me for my birthday....
THANK YOU SO MUCH, MARTHA, MY FRIEND...
I just love them !
You sure seem to know just what I am going to love!!

this adorable little fishin' fella and his dog is one of my favorite things...
MOM gave this to me for my 45th birthday...it had a little, tiny fishing pole at one time...
where did it go ?

I believe I HAVE shown these cute little vintage glasses before but they just needed to be looked at again!
tee hee..
I bought them for 25 cents apiece and would have bought this room full, if they had them..
I LOVE these old, vintage works of art..
and to think I grew up using glasses like these and never gave them a thought...
WHERE ARE THEY ALL ? ...I WANT 'EM BACK !
THIS blue and white SECRETARY is right at 150 to 200 years old, according to the fella, which was a friend, that I bought it from FORTY-EIGHT years ago.
It was in HIS family for over 100 years that he knew for certain....maybe longer..
i can't remember now just why he SOLD it...probably just grew tired of it and wanted
something NEW.....

OH, it is in SUCH a need for a new refinishing job...I just can not bring myself to start such a project.
I have always loved the FRENCH BLUE of the piece but....*gasp....I am growing tired of it being BLUE...I would like another, fresh color for it...at least for another 48 years !! ha
but........WHAT COLOR would be pretty ?

*

**

PLEASE SAY that I've not shown these to you before !! I just can't remember and I am not organized enuf with my postings to check it out QUICKLY....
and QUICK is what I'm all about...
*
ANYWAY....(seems i can't keep just one train of thought today)..
these were some of the very first vintage crock pieces I bought back in the 60's...
I fell in love with them and, if you look closely, they really aren't a MADE TOGETHER, MATCHED SET, but....
who cares ? NOT ME !
I love 'em so much I want to marry 'em......
**********
HAVE A BEAUTIFUL BLUE MONDAY....love, bj

Gm BJ, You seem to never run out of blue to post. I just love that SECRETARY, really I think it is beautiful just the way it is. But, I know how it is to get the urge that you have to change something. My walls are starting to bug me. :)I love the idea of the calander exchange for Christmas.Sure hope I can remember that for a year. LOL Come by when you get a moment, I have something for you.

Love ya,
Chris

BJ, I love blue jeans. ;-)

And, I love all of your blues. I vote for keeping the side-by-side just like it is. The color is so pretty.

Funny story, My girls and I went to see Mama Mia and my youngest (18) leaned over when Pierce Brosnan was onscreen and said "He's old and he's STILL hot!" lol! Yes she takes after me when it comes to men with dark hair and blue eyes. I love the secretary but I OBSESS over what color to paint things so I am no help at all. It's back to work for me today BJ. I hope you have a wonderful week!

Good morning BJ, I am up and atem today. I have been sooo busy and today marks the day I can slow down. No company until the 11th of January. Oh, that is this Sunday.

Love your blue today and your great sense of humor as always. Your calendar is very sweet from your daughter. It is all good and I haven't seen any of it before. The secretary is lovely in blue. I wouldn't change it. Smile!

Have a great Monday my friend.

Hugs...Jeanne

Good morning BJ...I've been in "Evan-Heaven" the past several days...or...with my grandson since they returned from Christmas in NYC/DC...so I haven't been blogging much...he has to go home later today. We finally got all of our Christmas packed & stored just yesterday...I vowed not to drag all of that stuff out next year...but I say that every year!
I, too, love your French blue secretary...but if you must paint it...I'd go creamy white... ♥ Bo

That secretary is a special piece, and I don't think I'd have the heart to change a thing about it. I love the idea that you can sit and do a bit of work while you glance at your precious fishing boy. I had a fishing boy knickknack once too, but he's long gone. Thanks for sharing. Happy Blue Monday.

As for those jeans....NICE!! He's not bad either! LOL

You have a great selection of beautiful blues! That secretary is to die for! Doesn't look like it needs refinishing to me. Just call it patina. :)

Good Morning BJ...For some reason I have a few minutes of internet right now so I wanted to get on and comment on as many as I could... I always give my daughters calendars because no matter how old they get they have a hard time remembering everyone’s birthdays and special events... So I mark up the colander with cute little stickers on all the families’ birthdays and anniversaries... Loved all your blues on Blue Monday... Have a wonderful day... Love ya

Oh BJ, you are so funny! I literally LOL when I got down to the last photo. He is a handsome man, isn't he? Aging very well. I'd let him leave cracker crumbs in my sheets--
Your blue is great and I enjoyed seeing all your treasures. How about a nice creamy antique white for the secretary. That color just seems to "bring me up" when I'm feeling a bit low.
Enjoy your day!

Love the salt & sugar crocks. I fell in love with crocks back in the late 50s, early 60s when you could buy them for 50cents a piece. Why didn't I buy more? Yours are great. Sally

I love the little chicken salt & pepper shakers..too cute! And I still think the french blue is perfect for that piece...but if you have to paint it...how about a mustardy yellow...I love that color in French country decor.

Hi BJ,

You sure have a lot of pretty "blue" things in your home. My favorite is the blue secretary.

I hope you are having a good week and that you will have the best New Year ever.

Anonymous said...

So glad you like the salt and pepper shakers. They looked like they belonged to you when I saw them. That blue secretary is just great as it is, but if you just have to change it, how about a pretty yellow? The creamy white sounds pretty, but it doesn't strike me as complimenting your other colors in there. Oh well, it would be much less work and just as pretty to leave it blue. Ha! The guy in the jeans is one good-looking dude! Great post again today! Martha
