DAY FOUR of H.O.T. KITCHEN OPEN HOUSE

WELCOME TO OUR KITCHENS
JEANNE from BACKYARD NEIGHBOR says,

Hello BJ, here are the kitchen photos.. I am sending two, so take your pick. I love my very large country kitchen, The harvest table is 9 feet long, but narrow. It seats lots of company. I love the island, but my counter space is not the best. With just two of us now it works, until we have company. We no longer have a formal dining room. I don't miss it. (less dusting)

LOVELY, JEANNE

THANK YOU

Hi BJ,This is suew080 from RMS, here is my little country kitchen in my 1939 house, small but cute!

Thanks, Sue

BEVERLY at HOW SWEET THE SOUND says,

"I have attached three pictures.
The first one is looking into the working area of my kitchen. The island is painted Raspberry.
The second picture is looking into our breakfast room.
The third picture is of an antique bowfront cabinet in our breakfast room. I like my kitchen because it is large and sunny. My dream kitchen would include a large walk-in pantry. My grandmother had a wonderful pantry, and I would love one just like hers."

BEAUTIFUL, BEVERLY

THANK YOU

THIS PRETTY KITCHEN belongs to THE DAUGHTER of our own

JEANNE has this to say....

" BJ, Here are my daughter's kitchen photos. You don't have to use them but I thought you would like to see them. She was fixing lunch and complained that I shot the picture with a cluttered counter. Oh well, you get the design idea. Have fun with all the kitchen stuff," Jeanne

Just tell your daughter that this is REAL LIFE....I just WISH my kitchen looked this nice while I was fixing lunch!!
MANY THANKS, LADIES

" BJ - this is my kitchen - NOT my favorite kitchen!!!! Very small and needs lotz of updating. "

"Look at the door to the pantry in this one.....LOVE IT!!!!"
Me, too, Donna
" I love red in a kitchen, but it is still so light and airy!!!!!"

I love that pretty skirt under the sink
Just as soon as my sweet hubby puts in a FARM SINK just like this one,
I WILL have a pretty skirt beneath it, says bj

" I think the name of the blog from this one is One Woman's Cottage - I got these off flikr - but I do remember seeing a blog with the remodeling of this kitchen on it - and I absolutely love this kitchen!!!"

Many thanks, DONNA....these are ALL just fabulous

THE FOLLOWING 8 PHOTOS are from JANIE of SOUTHERN LAGNIAPPE
JANIE has this to say about her FABULOUS kitchen

"Like most people, there are things I like about my kitchen and things I don't like. We bought the house new and I didn't have any input into the design, but if I could start from scratch, these are the things I would change about it:

1. My first priority would be to lower the counter tops which are 38" tall. I don't know what possessed the builder to make them that high, but I'm 4'11" and have to stand on my tiptoes when I'm stirring something, or have to put the bowl in the sink to stir. NOT good!

2. I would also paint the walls "Powell Buff," by Benjamin Moore, to make the cabinets stand out, and would paint the island black, with a "distressed" effect.

3. I would replace the lower cabinets with drawers and install oil-rubbed bronze cup drawer pulls

Now, I would just about KILL to have these pantry drawers in MY humble kitchen

THIS kitchen has LONG been a favorite of mine since I first saw it posted on RATE MY SPACE, where it holds a VERY HIGH RATING

" Things I love about my kitchen:"
My Viking Induction Cook top (it's absolutely wonderful!)
Cabinet and Pantry Storage Space
Lots of Counter top Space
The China Cabinet with Glass Doors
Staggered Cabinets with Crown Molding
Viking Vent Hood

"If I had to choose my favorite RMS kitchen, I guess it would be this one by "sswelch" ... I love the contrast and detail of the white molding around the cook top."
MANY thanks for taking us on the tour of your lovely kitchen

The following 3 photos belong to one of my dearest friends,

ALICE
She has this to say about her pretty domain....
"I redid my kitchen and finally have it pretty much done. It's a small kitchen and room for only one cook at a time, but it works for me. I'm getting to the point that I don't want to put much more effort into redoing things anymore. It's a hassle for me to even paint nowadays so I just quit looking at that which needs it. "
Ha, haaa...Alice...I know JUST what you mean !!

Oh, Alice...I do love your light BLUE cabinets and the darker blue counter top...
and your new BLACK appliances look just perfect with your blue

YOU DID A FABULOUS JOB, GIRLFRIEND

DAY TWO....H.O.T. KITCHEN OPEN HOUSE

WELCOME
TO MORE BEAUTIFUL KITCHENS, LADIES
*Please note that I didn't choose any certain kitchen for any certain day of posting.
With so many coming in, I just tried to "stay up" with my posting as they arrived in my email.
There has been a tremendous amount of submissions and I
THANK YOU ALL
for them

THE FOLLOWING are from SHARI RUTLAND" One of my favorite kitchens belongs to "Paintingismypassion" on RMS. I especially love the backsplash, window treatment, rug and cute little island! The generous crown molding is pretty spectacular too! Yeah, I could be really happy cooking meals in this kitchen!

"Personally, I don't need or want a huge kitchen with all the expensive bells and whistles. Just give me a small to medium-sized kitchen with charm and personality and I'm a happy camper! As you can see, my two favorite kitchens are very similar...white cabinets, black countertops, and although I'm typically more of a "pastel person," they are both accented with RED. I am loving the color red in decor these days!
One of my favorite kitchens on RMS belongs to "Leela4493." This is how it looked when she originally posted it. (Didn't you feature this kitchen on your blog once?)", SAID SHARI...

NOTE: YOU ARE RIGHT...I sure did feature it on my blog once as one of my
FAVORITES (bj)

" Then she made a few little changes based on suggestions from others on RMS and reposted. I like it this way too! I can't decide which is better."

THANK YOU VERY MUCH, SHARI

HERE is a real beauty from another REAL BEAUTY

PENNY at LAVENDER HILL "Here is a picture of one of my favorite kitchens....today....lol. I love this one because distressed cabinets, the confit pots, jars with rosemary, the copper tea kettle, red transferware - it all says French Country to me."

Thank you, PENNY, for sharing this great kitchen
If you stand in the middle of it, I am sure you could just DREAM you were smack in the middle of
FRANCE

Such a warm and homey kitchen...
THANK YOU for sharing your lovely domain with us, DEENA
(she has this AMAZING hunk of a man that hangs out in this kitchen with her)

...Hey, Deenaaaaa,
why didn't you send us a photo of HIM ??? He could have stood right there by the sink and worn a BLUE shirt and it would have enhanced your already awesome kitchen !!
;O) :O) :O)

I've received so many pictures of lovely, LOVELY kitchens...I didn't know there were so many DIFFERENT kinds of kitchens. They have every one been just delightful
as well they should be...after all...

A KITCHEN IS A WOMAN'S DOMAIN
let me hear an AMEN

The following 5 pictures belong to PAT of BACK PORCH MUSINGS
They are of her own beautiful kitchen

(I'd like you to know that as soon as I saw this picture, I ran and got MY rooster weather vane and put it on top of MY black hutch because YOUR'S looks so pretty, Pat !!)

PAT sent along the following information about her dream kitchen

Hi BJ
I'm sending along some photos of my kitchen. I've added some information about different aspects, to the photos. The cabinet maker and I
designed the kitchen.
Behind the big pantry door is where most of the dishes and linens are stored. The long cabinet next to the fridge has pullout shelves. This is where food is stored. The middle drawer, in the island, that looks like a door, with knob at top, is the pullout receptacle for the trash container. There is a deep drawer, for pots, under the microwave. Behind the door on the other end are pullout shelves, where the plastic things are stored. On the other side of the island are three doors with shallow shelves behind. That's where I keep cleaning supplies. There is an electrical outlet in one end of the island. I used to have a small table with a lamp, sitting there.
The floor is ceramic, cabinets hickory, the counters are manufactured solid service.

As with the rest of the house, we've used accessories with special meaning. Mother's hen cookie jar, our name, framed over the pantry, that was crocheted over 20 years ago, by a 90 year old woman who lived near our town. The print above American Gothic poster is Charleston's Rainbow Row, from one of our trips. The four photos, framed, above the stove, are 3 winter scenes from our farm lane and one of the cows, in snow.

The view from the sink is across the hearth room and out to the wooded area behind the house. The pocket door to the laundry, can be seen in some of the photos.

I tried to think of everything, but I found there were a couple things I should have thought of, like drawer dividers for utensils and flatware, better under cabinet lighting and an outlet over the cabinets above the fridge. I had two put in, above, on the stove side of the kitchen and have white Christmas lights up there for accent lighting."

*****

PAT, your kitchen is just breathtaking and it must be very serviceable...seems to me you thought of every one of the important things !

Many thanks for sharing these photos with all of us and...

HAPPY COOKING in your LOVELY space
