OOOO, HERE WE ARE at our last TABLESCAPE TUESDAY before the much anticipated
CHRISTMAS....
Oh so many thanks to SUSAN for hosting this fabulous time...I just wish I had MORE dishes to play with on TUESDAYS....
you will love seeing her tablescape this day as well as all the others that are bound to be showing....
************
I wondered if I could make a festive looking table setting with my
EVERY DAY DISHES...from TARGET....with my favored RED tableware...from TARGET...
with my pretty little RED BOWLS.....from TARGET.... and my loved Christmas goblets....from
McDONALDS (they sold them several years ago and I fell in love with their etched Christmas scenes....
NOTE ADDED:
Our GOLLUM just gave my Christmas goblets a name...
McGLASSWARE....
don't ya just love it....
MERRY CHRISTMAS...
MERRY CHRISTMAS
THAT little bowl held some HOMEMADE POTATO SOUP
last night and it was so COLD outside AND so warm inside and the hot
soup tasted just like necture....
ummm, and my favorite thing in the whole, wide world...
HOT WATER CORNBREAD...
WHEW ! it is so good, made just like my momma made it...
a cup of cornmeal
a cup of flour
a teaspoon of salt
enfu HOT, HOT water to make a mixture thick enuf to pat in your hands , making little patties fairly thin, when using a tablespoon...you will need to keep your hands wet so as not to be so sticky....
fry in olive oil until golden...
have the butter close by and prepare to groan and moan .....
*******************
OH....
and we also roasted fresh PEANUTS last night....
it made the whole house smell so so good...
just like our house did when i was a little girl....
oh, the CHRISTMAS memories just are washing all over me tonight!!
don't they look delicious, in my mother's vintage, green
MOON and STARS bowl.....
*******************************
Happy day, Merry Christmas and STAY WARM....

ReplyDeleteLOVE it all.
ReplyDeleteI am a Pink lover myself but with Christmas red is fine too, lol.
I love the bowl and the glasses etc.
Going to try to make those buns, sounds easy and yum.
have a great Christmas
Beautiful and festive BJ! I love Target too, especially at Christmas time. Of course the vintage green bowl is just fabulous, I understand completely if you don't want to pass it on to me! LOL! I make potato soup alot, we love it, my bowl must have lots of saltines in it, YUM!! Merry Christmas sweetie! xo
ReplyDeleteGM Girlfriend, I love red too even though after Christmas I don't think I have any red in the house. Loved your red tablescape, but even more I love cornbread so I'm going to copy this into my Blog recipe folder. When you mentioned your memories about the peanuts, one popped into my mind as well. When I was a kid we had a coal stove in the living room and Mom would throw orange peels on the top of it and the aroma would drift through out our house. AH!the good old days.
ReplyDeleteLove Ya,
Chris
GM BJ, it all looks wonderful girl..and those roasted peanuts I bet they did make the house smell wonderful..thanks for the cornbread recipe this now sound YUMMY!! hope you have a safe and blessed Christmas...hugs and smiles Gloria

We have never roasted peanuts... boiled them LOL LOL but when I was a kid my family roasted chestnuts and they also made the home smell warm and cozy... You always do such a wonderful post... I know it is not the wishing day BUT I wish I was as good as you at posting... Have a TERRIFIC Tuesday...Love Ya

ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, BJ. Your table looks so festive and pretty.
ReplyDeleteWe make cornbread like that, too. I like to slice mine and put in some sharp cheddar cheese. Yummo!
I love your mother's bowl. What a treasure.
Mmm.. I'm going to try that recipe - it sounds great!
ReplyDeletePeanuts in the shell always remind me of Christmas... as a kid, at the bottom of our stocking, there were always peanuts, an orange, and a big peppermint stick... :)
Will have to try that cornbread recipe, it sounds easy to make. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThere is an elegant simplicity to your table ... love everything you found at Target, etc. ....
ReplyDeleteLove your tablescapes! What type of tablecloth did you use in that first picture? Almost looks like terry...like snow!
ReplyDeleteKeep 'em coming!.
PS - my husband just can't figure out why we need more that one set of dishes - silly man!
BJ, this is SO cute! I love those Target bowls!!! It's just precious.
