semi sweet chocolate chips..
butterscotch chips...
spanish peanuts...
WHO posted this recipe? I can not remember, for the life of me...
but, it is SO SO SO good. I've made them about three times now.....
THANK YOU, WHOEVER YOU ARE !!!!
ALTHO I wish this said MERRY CHRISTMAS instead of HAPPY HOLIDAYS, I couldn't resist SANTA hanging with a CHRISTMAS MOOSE and a SNOWMAN when I found them at
a thrift store last year....
I am SUCH a copy cat...I found this picture of the tiny tree on the LEFT in a magazine a few years back and just fell in love...
The one on the RIGHT is at home in our SWEET NOTHINGS cottage...it sits in it's
very own CHRISTMAS RED WOVEN BASKET, just like the orginial....we had the
white paper stars at one time, but over time, they got all crumpled up..I just added more
SANTAS to ours....
We have to store our tree up in the attic and this precious little 4 ft. one is so much easier for us to transport than the 7 foot one we always had before.... it is a pre-lite one but.....
there's those glass cookie jars with their very own cookie mix....
A photo of a tree NEVER, EVER looks as good as it is supposed to..
these are a few of my ornaments...
Most are older ones....some we had hanging on our tree when our kids were little....
nearly all Santa and nearly all red and white....

I bought him when our first grandson was about a year old...he is now 18....boo hooo

this one is a tad bit out of focus...
i hesitate to even mention that, along with computer problems, my camera
is acting like it's from another planet...

then, Mr. Sweet Nothings was gone for a week and as soon as he left, by the time he hit the
city limits, both my commodes stopped up...
2 strands of my Christmas tree lights went out,
couldn't wash clothes nor dishes all week because i was afraid water would overflow out of the machines,too....(i did hand wash the dishes but...the clothes had to wait 'til things were flowing smoothly again)
needless to say, I now have a HUGH fever blister on my bottom lip !!
pretty sure it is STRESS related...
all is well now,tho....
OHHHH....
I was showing you my CHRISTMAS TREE....
i just love him.
and i just love YA'LL for looking at all this with me.....thanks, girls!!
awwww .... don't we all just LOVE CHRISTMAS memories....
he was in grade school...he's 43 now....boo hoo....
passed away 20 years ago...
i know it sounds silly for someone MY age to feel better, just having her picture on my tree...somehow, it just makes it seem she is here with us....
and, good grief...just looking at the photo now...i am the same age as she was then.......now, THAT makes me feel FUNNY ! ;>)
thanks again, ladies...now, show some more of YOUR Christmas cottage!!!...
please!

Have a HOLLY JOLLY CHRISTMAS....
love, bj
Love your Christmas ornaments…. you have decorated your tree so beautifully.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful, BJ. Yes, I also love the memories when putting up our main tree. I think I'm going to get a frame to put my Mom's photo in too, I love that idea. When I gave a party for my Mom and Dad's 50th anniversary someone gave them a beautiful oranament that was like a wedding cake topper. I ended up with that and it's on my tree also.
ReplyDeleteLove Ya,
Chris
Hi BJ,
ReplyDeleteYour Christmas tree is so beautiful, and such a sweet reminder of your beautiful family. Christmas blessings to you, my dear. :)
xoxo,
Mary
Bless your heart BJ...If it's true bad things happen in threes...then you should be in the clear now... I could look at your sweet cottage full of loving memories forever.
ReplyDeleteYum, I want a bite of that candy... is that the recipe Sher of Sher's Creative Expressions gave us the other day? ♥ Bo
Love your Christmas tree! Your week sounds like mine! Enjoy the holidays:-)
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the tour of your Christmas pretties.
ReplyDeleteHope things are back to normal now...with water going down - not up.
Merry Christmas
You poor dear! Clearly Mr. Sweet Nothings should not be leaving the house without hiring a plumber and handyman to take care of you, lol. I always say I guess I would rather have things like that happen all at once and be done with, than have my whole life be one long string of things going wrong one at a time. Your decorations are beautiful, I want to look for a little tree at the clearance sales for next year. It won't replace the big one but I have some other rooms I could use one in. Your home is always beautiful no matter what the season:>)
ReplyDeleteBJ, I think your tree is just perfect, and I love that your mother is there smiling at all of you. We all love our mothers - no matter our age.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your sweet Christmas treasures.
EILEEN....hope you come back to read this...when I click on your name, it goes to a coupon page!???
ReplyDeleteMERRY CHRISTMAS..
Just lovely ..... I love all you sweet memories on your tree..... my goodness.... sounds like hubby needs to stay home.... too much goes wrong when he is gone...

Hope you got your plumbing problem taken care of. It seems like it can never be just one thing but multiples!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you're already for Christmas. I have yet to even wrap one present...I'll get to it this weekend as the weather is awful and I'll be staying put. No school for the kids today. We got less snow than predicted but it's icy.
Have a happy weekend.
I really like the idea of a big red basket and a smaller tree with precious memory ornaments hanging. The pictures are beautiful. What a sight it must be in person.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that your husband is home and all is well--or almost well.
Everything is so festive! And doesnt it always happen right when they go out of town? I just hate that!
ReplyDeleteMorning BJ,
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love that red bucket you have your tree in! I'm thinking that I may have to steal that idea for next year ;0)
Wishing you and your family a blessed holiday.
Hugs,
Dena
BJ, I love your Christmas tree. It is very.. hard to get a good picture of a Christmas tree. I love all of your ornaments. Your home is so cozy and warm.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless! Terrie
BJ your tree is so pretty, so sweet with all your memorable ornaments! Yes I completely understand about lugging a big tree, I wish I could just leave mine standing where it is all year! Why is it when the men are away we have water problems? Once when I was by myself we got about 3 inches of water in the basement, thank God for son and his working at an industrial pump company! Hope you are running smoothly now! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing all of this with us ... home looks like it's all ready for next week. I especially love the way your photos are framed with the red and white ... very festive.
ReplyDeleteBJ its just beautiful girl !!! I love all the old memories you have with this tree..I wanted so much to do a memory tree this year..I started scanning old photos of family that has been on and got these little frames from Dollar tree and was going to put them all on a rememberance tree and my new scanner when out...the mointor on my putor died last week also..HP just send me my new replacement scanner late yesterday so spend the evening setting it all up..order new monitor last friday to be shipped over night...and UPS has losted it..so I had to get my old monitor out of barn and hook it up to putor..Now I still need to find me a new monitor again...and this Sunday is my family Christmas dinner here..so needless to say I have been like a one arm paper hanger trying to get things done here...and then it snowed and could't get out of my driveway..ain't life grand?? hope you have a great day...hugs and smiles Gloria
ReplyDeleteLovely BJ,
ReplyDeleteand I don't think it is silly to have your mom's photo on the tree, it is so sweet.
Enjoy the holiday. Love, Suzy
Merry Christmas BJ!
ReplyDeleteI love your tree and all that you have shared with us... so fun to take a break to visit you!!
Much love,
Kim
I'm sorry about your stressful week but your tree looks really pretty. I love the red basket!
ReplyDeleteHello BJ, I have missed you girl. Come over, we made Christmas cookies too. I think you might get a chuckle or two. I do love all of your Christmas memories and photos. Especially your mom on the tree. I understand why it is important to you so well. You copycat tree is cuter than the original. Your Santas are so cute as well. Good job.
ReplyDeleteHo Ho Ho...Love, Jeanne
I have really enjoyed seeing all of your Christmas lovelies! The ones that really get to me are all the homemade and sentimental things!
ReplyDeleteSorry I haven't been around to visit lately. I've been down with illness and surgery, but am on my way to recovery!
Kady
Oh Mary,
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your stressful week with Mr. Sweet Nothings not there. :( My mom used to get those fever sores all under her nose too. Now my poor daughter gets them everytime she is stressed too.
Your little tree looks adorable. I love that little basket idea. Loved seeing all of your christmas decorations. Have a blessed Christmas!
Oh BJ, I am so sorry, I typed your name as Mary by mistake. lol. I was just over at The Little Red House, and left Mary a comment over there.
ReplyDeleteHi BJ -
ReplyDeleteCute tree filled with such special memories.
~Adrienne~
I just love seeing your decorative touches and no I don't think it is silly at all about including your Mom's picture.
ReplyDeleteBetty
Remember that when people tell you "Happy holidays" to ask them if they know the origin of the
word " Holiday "? The answer is that it comes from the phrase "Holy Day".
I read somewhere that everyone should have a picture of their mother displayed somewhere special in their home. It just makes you feel good. I agree - I have a picture of my mother & I when I was two that I see everyday. Have a great day. Sally
ReplyDeleteyour little tree is so pretty. i also have a small one this year and just love it. my living room is so small that a large one takes up too much space (plus putting on the lights is a real bummer for me.)
ReplyDeletehave a great day, love u, al
Well not that it's a surprise...but your tree looks lovely! I love all the memories that go along with the ornaments. I especially love that you have your mom on the tree. I hope that blister goes away...the plumbing flows (the house not yours...ok yours too) and that things smooth out so you can have a wonderful Christmas week! Love ya!
ReplyDeleteHey BJ... OHHHH I love your little tree and how cute is it in the little red basket... Love that idea... Although most of them are in storage we also have pictures of family members that were on our tree... We made them years ago ... when the kids were small... we also did balls in glitter with all of our names... I have the ones my mom & dad made... Always a nice memory when decorating the tree... I loved all your decorations... Have a happy evening
ReplyDeleteLove ya
