I WISH I HAD A FABULOUS BUILT-IN LIKE THIS ONE to put my dishes, silverware, tablecloths, placemats......ALL IN ONE ROOM....
but ALAS.... I DON'T ..........
and any thing else that I can't find a home for, right here in this great
GARAGE SALE ENGLISH CHEST...
...who cares if it's in my LIVING ROOM and not my DINING ROOM ?
NOBODY !!
Of course.....my cabinets in my kitchen are just loaded and running over, really.....
everyday dishes and glasses....
(oh, and I have some GREAT paper to put in the backs of these cabinets...I MEANT to do it months ago....can't help it...I AM SLOW !...I really do have such good INTENTIONS!)
my everyday RED silverware (that I just love) stays in a wicker tray in one drawer of the kitchen cabinets....other drawers hold more silverware...i forgot to take a pic of my mom's silverware that i keep in a silverware box...
You've seen it a thousand times but this is where my BLUES stay MOST of the time...in the dining room .....
these serving pieces that i use every chance that i get stay in this stand on the mantle in the dining room...
this metal display stand that was at our WINE TASTING, i bought for 5 bucks when a business was going out
holds quite a few of my plates and etc....
I keep watching the thrift stores and garage sales for just the right hutch to use in my dining room....just haven't found it yet....
i love the plate rack...probably would have more room without it but...... we sacrifice for BEAUTY, don't we ?
the vintage blue secretary is being used in the dining room right now and it is FULL of dishes!
Vintage dishes, mostly, are kept here...the beautiful punch bowl and cups that belonged to mom...
TONS of dishes...more than it appears. I really like this piece...
and not just 'cause it has a ROOSTER right in the middle....heh heh heh... but...he doesn't hurt, either !!
most of my Christmas dishes down here on the bottom shelf...
some wine glasses and silver colored chargers up on the top shelf....
See my mom's GREEN GOBLETS back there.... ?
more glasses and cups are behind the middle piece with the rooster...
the drawer holds my nicer silverware, candles.....

SOOOO, there ya are, KATHY girl...this is where all my dishes go...

blessed day, bj
Dishes are important! Say good bye to something else and keep the dishes! :)
ReplyDeleteMorning Bj,
ReplyDeleteCatching up on all I have missed today. Your cruise pictures are wonderful. What a wonderfully happy family...... and what glorious memories you made!
I love all your cabinets with all your dishes. You know that Rooster Hutch is my all time favorite!
((hugs)) Rosie
I told Bo yesterday, I'd love to have some dishes like all you ladies on Tablescape Tuesdays but I have no place to store them. Maybe when I'm an empty nester!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you had such a great time on vacation. The pictures are fabulous. Your family is looks precious too!!
Girl I am with you. I have so many and that is my favorite thing to collect.Right now i have some of those slide under the bed boxes and I put some sets in there. I pull them out and change out when I get tired of one or by season.I like you have so many cabinets stuffed with them.I want a walk in pantry for dishes. My friend just built a new house and they built her one under her stairs.
ReplyDeleteOh sweet BJ, I am smiling a big smile right now:>) You are blessed with a great collection. The only reason I don't have that many dishes is because I have a teeny house and nowhere to keep them, but I LOVE DISHES. I can tell you right now that I always enjoy your tablescapes and seeing yours is (almost) as good as having them myself. ((((Hugs))))
ReplyDeleteOH girlfriend... what a collection you have and you do such a great job of storing them... I always love your tablescapes and wonder... does she rent the dishes for the Tablescape Tuesday... LOL LOL well now I knnow exactly where the are all neatly put away... Loved it...
ReplyDelete(((HUGS)))
Donna
Mornin' BJ. You have a wonderful collection of dishes and I love the way you have them displayed and stored. I have some special pieces from my grandmother and mom but not tons. Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteMorning Oh "I'm not cruising anymore" BJ! Are back on track at home yet? Do you still gently sway back and forth in your bed at night? Just wondering. LOL
ReplyDeleteI love all your hiding places for your dishes. You've done a great job putting them all away. I love the hutch with your creamware or whiteware - I'm not sure what you called it - but I remember when you posted some of it on RMS and I fell in love with those creamy things.
I just may have to show my dishes' hiding places too. This was a great post. You have lovely things, by the way.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Oh! no more cruise pictures. Oh well, I love what you show us today. All those dishes. I know you have beautiful things because I enjoyed what you show on Tablescape Tuesday. I love all your cabinets too, specially the one with the rooster.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day Bj, Virginia
BJ
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not the only one with this affliction...dishes and tablecloths are hidden in every little nook and cranny in my house too! Thanks for the tour.
Hi BJ
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about dishes that are so lovable and makes us all want to have too many? It looks like you've done a great job of finding storage for all of yours.
The pictures of the cruise are great. What a fun time for you!
Hugs, Rhondi
Hi BJ -
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem - where to put the dishes! I'm trying to devise some storage for little-used pieces in my garage but I haven't gotten there yet. Thanks for sharing your pretties with us again.
~Adrienne~
I love your header pic BJ. My dishes are getting strung out all over the house too. LOL. But I just can't resist a pretty dish .
ReplyDeleteGreat post, BJ. I love what you and Bo have done showing us your storage places.
ReplyDeleteI, too, am a confessed dishaholic. My ultimate dream is to have a large walk-in dish pantry.
A girl can never have enough dishes! You have some beautiful furniture pieces...and I think we hold on to things b/c we think we'll use them later. Our children can get rid of them when we're gone. :O)
ReplyDeleteI have the same situation, I dont' want to call it a problem or my sweet hubby might want to help fix it. Here at the Cock-a-doodle-do Cottage you will find dishes under my half bath sink, under the bed, and those skirted round tables, gosh-you can stack em high under there. Oh yes, my $80.00 a month storage unit is full of bins and then of course--the trunk of my car has the two most recent purchases. I say, do what works.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm must tell you---that's one fine looking family you have. There is glory all around you.
Wow, you have thought of lots of places to put dishes and things. My mom has a secretary much like yours. Her teacups are in hers.
ReplyDeleteLoved this post!! So nice to see that we all share the same problem - where to store our addiction!!! Have a great day, Sally
ReplyDeleteHi BJ...well, you know I LOVED this post...heehee! And I saw some things I'd like to nab when you're not looking. It seems dishes tell a story whther they are new or just new to us. I couldn't find my Christmas dish set to photograph the other day, but I know it's here somewhere. Hey, if I don't look too hard to find it, maybe I can get ANOTHER set...Yay! ;-) Bo
ReplyDeleteOK...now where the heck do you put the food now that every cabinet is full of dishes!!!
ReplyDeleteStupid blogger won't let me log in...It's me Nikki for crying out loud!
Oh my, BJ, you do have a lot of dishes! I commend you for finding places to store them all so nicely. I would just love to "plunder" through them. My dad had to build Mama her own barn for all her dishes when they moved to the farm. She couldn't bear to part with any of them either. I did "inherit" one set of depression glass china. I'll have to show it to you one day. Have a good day. Love, Faith
ReplyDeleteOne can not have too many dishes, but it is hard to find places to put them all. Yours are all so pretty.
ReplyDeleteGinger
BJ, your storage is as amazing as your dishes! I have stuff..um err, dishes and dish paraphernalia stored all over the house, too.
ReplyDeleteYour dishes all look so organized! They look beautiful in all of their special little places. Thanks for the tour. laurie (bargainhunr)
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have seen so many dishes in one house. Bet you never use paper plates. LOL
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Chris
Holy macaroni girl. Have a few dishes. Smile. I am so teasing you. I adore dishes and do not have room for them all. I even put a whole set in the the buffet with the tablecloths. Some are still packed and I gave some away. We do love our dishes don't we? We might need them one day!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove...Jeanne
Oh Bj I am loving those blue and white dishes girl and that white hutch I'll add that to my list also..when I bring my truck by.. Girl I so remember you from RMS and was so glad you came by to see me..keep the dishes girl..men take up alot of room also but would't want to get rid of them...hugs and smiles Gloria
ReplyDeleteWhy BJ - you've just made my day telling how gorgeous I was and especially that all my parts were where they were supposed to be!! You're a hoot! Well, lookie, you've changed your header again and it's beautiful. I'd like to know how you make those scallopped photo edges. You rock, sweetie,
ReplyDeleteShelia ;)
So many beautiful dishes!! love them!! Can't wait to see the beautiful paper behind the cabinet!!
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed day,
kari & kijsa
Oh BJ I THINK YOU HAVE MORE THAN ME
ReplyDeleteLOL

TEEHEE
You are LOADED, lady!
ReplyDeleteI have some awards to share.
Wow that's a lot of dishes!! I love the rooster cabinet:)
ReplyDeleteHey BJ...you house is like mine...dishes hid everywhere!!! lol I even have to keep some of my big covered glass cake plates on a top shelf in the walk in closet! lol I just love my dishes...even the ones I don't use...I just like to look at them! lol
ReplyDeleteBJ, loved seeing all your treasures, and I had to smile when I saw that rooster cabinet. It reminded me of all the "trouble" over rooster pictures. HAAAA
ReplyDeleteHello dear BJ:-)
ReplyDeleteYour cupboards look like mine...I've got dishes all over the place as well! lol I so love vintage pieces and can never resist buying more so yes, my cupboards and hutch are starting to overflow but I always figure I'll find a place for it, no matter what! hehe xoxo
Wow, lots of beautiful dishes! You have a lot more storage than I do and everything looks so organized.
ReplyDeleteLoved looking at all your cruise pictures! What a wonderful time!
Hugs,
Donna
BJ, I ended up "gifting" a good friend from Church with a BUNCH of my dishes, glassware, lamps, etc. I needed room for NEW items that I will be USING a whole bunch more than the items I gave away.
ReplyDeleteI had 5 sets (complete sets, too) of China...and lots and lots of crystal (which we NEVER use)...and a HUGE punch bowl, 30 cups and 30 luncheon plates that all matched and had NEVER been used since I bought them. (I have a beautiful vintage Carnival glass punch bowl set and certainly didn't need another one!!)
That was the best thing I've EVER done. It made me happy and feel good...and Lin certainly was delighted!!!!!
Thanks for the visit!!
BJ,
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing. I've got dishes everywhere. I just bought an older china cabinet I am rehabbing so I have even more space. It's just so hard to pass up a pretty plate or a tureen. You have a lot of space but it all looks perfectly distributed.
