THE LAST ROSE OF SUMMER.....and A TABLESCAPE.....

i just picked these today and, altho there are several little buds on this particular
bush, i am worried they won't be as lovely as these.
oh, and I wish you could smell them. they smell just as sweet as they look.
they are some of the most beautiful of roses i have ever had and i am very proud of them!
i am soooo known for my BROWN THUMB...i am being very, VERY careful with this little beauty of a rose bush.

the roses are so large and compact, the new little stems are having a hard
time holding the blossoms upright.

this is a "first year" little rose bush and i just love it to pieces.
i planted a KNOCKOUT rose bush at the same time and it has just about
bloomed itself to death.....bunches of the cutest little roses....
i can't wait to see what it does NEXT summer.
is it too late to plant rose bushes now, in West Texas, for NEXT summer ??
i wonder !
i can also Google it, i suppose....

IT'S TABLESCAPE TUESDAY

hosted by SUSAN at

Now, last Tuesday, I posted some CHRISTMAS table settings...
THIS time, however, it is all about the
LAST OF THE GOOD OLE SUMMERTIME
*******************************************

this adorable plate with the beautiful pink roses and the scalloped edge is
a gift from my SWEET BILL.

i just have ONE plate and i want the entire, WHOLE set but i know i will never, ever find any more, any where, any time !
i think it is just one of those lovely plates that survived TIME and all the others in the entire universe were BROKEN or are being used by KINGS AND QUEENS somewhere.....
if ever i found a SET of these lovely things, i am pretty sure i would faint and fall over dead.
this is the kind of dish that i love so much i want to marry it.
AND NOT A MARKING OF ANY KIND ON THE BACK
so I can't spend the rest of my entire life searching for more pieces because
i don't know the NAME !!

now this adorable napkin ribbon.....
recognize it, sweet MARY ?

i suspect that there's not much of anything else that brings a dining table alive
like fresh flowers; ESPECIALLY beautiful ROSES ...
they just happen to be MY favorite
is this why i can never get really excited about my fall decorating ?
no fresh, homegrown roses to be found......
i am on the search for a knock-out centerpiece for fall and when i find it...
i will post a

FALL TABLESCAPE

after all, THANKSGIVING is right around the corner......
gosh, i seem to be jumping from one holiday to another...
that's just the way my mind works these days.

i just am sooooo not ready to give up SUMMER !!

*******************

DON'T FORGET TO VISIT SUSAN FOR MORE LOVELY TABLESCAPES
and
pray very hard about who you want for our PRESIDENT, come November and then,
work as hard as you can to support him
blessings, bj

Beautiful roses, I can see why you don't want summer to end.

Working around one plate is rough, but you did a good job.

Your roses are gorgeous, BJ!

I love the placesetting. I hope you're in a shop or at a yardsale and just happen upon more of these wonderful plates.

The header is lovely. What program do you use for those borders?

Your plate is lovely...take and scan the pattern as best you can and send a copy for Replacements Unlimited. They will be able to tell you what the pattern is and whether they have any in stock. They are not cheap, but maybe you can at least get 1 more so you and hubby can have a nice romantic dinner!!

Looks like the only thing missing from your beautiful table is the yummy food you prepare.

So many people have been begging for fall but I too wish it were still summer. Ours was cooler here in Illinois and felt like we didn't get one...just a long spring. Last winter was snowier and looong. I'm not looking forward to another. But I guess you can't change Mother Nature.

Have a happy day.

Oh, what a beautiful place setting! I love your roses! I use to have a neighbor that had beautiful rose bushes. I could just sit out on my front porch and enjoy the scent from her hard labor. LOL, it was great!
I have only one rose bush, and this year it didn't produce as well as last year. I'm afraid I probably pruned it the wrong way!!!

I love you new header, too. I'm going to have to try and figure out how to add one to my blog.

Hey BJ, I just blogged too about "so not ready to give up summer yet". My pink rose bush is not ready to give it up yet either. In the past few days it has put out a new flush of blooms. Nobody told that bush that it is pumpkin time. :) I just wanted to let you know that Kim has posted my auction up. It's #49. And when I am on my treasure hunts if I ever see that pretty plate I will snap it up and send it to you.

Your roses are SO beautiful!!! And your tablesetting is absolutely lovely. I DID recognize the little daisy. :) I often appreciate single dishes much more than whole sets. I guess it is because they are one-of-a-kind (to us anyway) and thus more treasured.

Mary

BJ, Your roses are so beautiful that I can close my eyes and smell them. Your place setting is exquisite. I don't know that I have ever seen a table look as beautiful. I have seen table settings with different patterns of dishes used. I recently began collecting single plates. I am planning on making a plate wall. Again - gorgeous!!!

BJ I am in lower Michigan. We got a lot of rain but missed out on the wind that made it all the way to Ohio.

Jessica (Cozy Kitchen) lives around Houston, she is safe but they are telling her she could be without power for a couple of weeks. Yikes!

BJ-I'm pretty sure I have part of that set. I have a tall tea pot, two tea cups and two saucers. It only says "Japan" on the bottoms of mine. They are fairly old-they were my grandma's. I'll take pictures of them tomorrow and put them on my blog. I bet you could find more by searching on Ebay.
Your table must be glorious for Thanksgiving. I can see that having a tea party at your house would be a very special thing.
Thanks for stopping in again!
Love, Debra

Your roses are divine. Yes the season is changing. We had a very hot summer and I am looking forward to a nice fall, but then we have some really cold days now (50F) so I don't know I maybe skip fall and get to winter straight away.
Enjoy the last summer days. Love Suzy
