THE HOUSE IN THE ROSES is hosting this fabulous
ENCHANTING WINDOWS PARTY
be sure to go over and see all the other bloggers showing their pretty WINDOWS....
MY WINDOWS
are reflections of the life we have lived in our 50's cottage for over 30 years....
WEBSTER describes ENCHANTING as charming and delightful ~~
this very description describes
MY LIFE...
of course, as always, there's been ups and downs...but on the whole...
CHARMING and DELIGHTFUL
alcove in the living room.
Oh, how I have enjoyed this window....I have a view of a vintage fence covered in
trumpet vines that are so lovely...
I have my black and white toile covered message board with pictures of ALL my family...
the pictures change as the people change...
I have sat here and pondered ALL THE TROUBLES OF THE WORLD and have not solved even a one of them !
But, I've written notes to my family and friends that live away...
I've sat and read my Bible and added names to my prayer list...
I've done a lotta livin' in front of this
WINDOW....
but it is one of my favorites
BECAUSE.......
I've watched my children roller skate on that sidewalk.
Ride their bikes down that street...
Watched them play with the kiddos across the street for hours on end...
Lay beneath the tree on the green grass and CLOUD WATCH...
Lounge with their friends on the front porch!
Seeing my son, away at college, drive up in front of the house...OH, MY !!
Then....
GRANDKIDS doing the same things, with a
"BE SURE I CAN SEE YOU FROM MY WINDOW" !
Oh, yes.....THIS window is truly one of my
LIFE WINDOWS
Just looking at this picture of the window reminds me of all the wonderful times my family and friends have had in this beloved room...a room filled with memories of my mother.
The handmade quilt she made that is at the top of my most treasured items...
The antique, cast iron, wind up clock that sits on my hutch. Each time it chimes, a picture of my mom flashes thru my mind... lots and LOTS of dishes she handed down to me before she passed away.
Years ago, when our family started to grow, we didn't have a very large space for dining
BUT...
we had a GARAGE !!!
Ahhhhh.....wouldn't IT make such a great DINING ROOM.
Sweet Bill did the magical thing and turned it into the most wonderful of spaces to have our large family all be together...
and he added these two large, pretty WINDOWS because he knows how much I love the sunlight.
He also made the fabulous shelves above each window !!
THANK YOU, BILL
I love looking out and seeing the sunlight playing on the walk...
These are southern windows so they are fabulous for my plantsI have vintage, black shutters on either side of these windows that I am loving !!
I am not a big lover of curtains and drapes...maybe living out here in West Texas with
LOTS OF DIRT AND DUST
has something to do with that !!
I love fabric on everyone elses windows!
I know French doors aren't WINDOWS but since I can SEE thru them,
I am calling them WINDOWS today !! hehehe
See that table and chairs out there?
There's also a fire pit that makes the BESTEST hot dogs, roasted marshmellows and
S'Mores..EVER !!
Just ask my GANDKIDS.....
they'll tell ya' !!
Lots of good times out there on that patio have been had by THIS family !! ;O)
blessings and love, bj
NOT A CLUE WHY MY FONT SIZE CHANGED, IN MID STREAM...
AND NO CLUE HOW TO GET IT CHANGED WITHOUT REDOING THIS WHOLE ENTIRE THING AND....
I'M NOT GONNA DO IT.....
SORRY, YA'LL

Hi BJ
ReplyDeleteI love your post today, with your windows and all the memories that go with them and "America" as the music. Like you I am very excited about the republican ticket. I think that it is a winner! My husband and I have recently become American citizens (originally form Canada) so this will be our first chance to vote since we've lived here.
Hugs, Rhondi

I so loved seeing all your beautiful windows and it's so true what you say, about having watched your kids grow up through these windows:-) I've been in my house for 32 years so it's the same with me...how many times I'd look out my own windows and see my kids playing outside, come home after their first school dance, their first date, their graduation, etc. Wonderful post! xoxo
