Now, EARL...calm down...THIS ham isn't from YOUR side of the family...
*
It was a little hard for me to chose a RECIPE from MR. FLAY'S options...
He uses a LOT of ingredients in MOST of his recipes.
Ingredients that I don't have in my pantry.
But when I saw THIS recipe...
MAPLE-PEACH GLAZED HAM STEAK
I knew this was want I wanted to prepare for this fun time.
♥
THIS was very good ham steak...SMOKED to a tender pink..
Then grilled to perfection by Mr. Sweet.
♥
Very easy to prepare and ready in about 15 minutes.
I wish I had more fresh peaches to lay on top for a much prettier photo..
but...alas...WE ATE THEM !
Ingredients
- Peach preserves
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon ancho chili powder
- 3 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice
- 2 ham steaks, each 1-inch thick
Directions
Stir together the preserves, maple syrup, ancho powder and orange juice in a medium bowl.
Heat grill to high. Grill the steaks for 4 to 5 minutes on both sides, keeping the grill covered to heat through. Baste with the glaze every few minutes. Slice and serve I couldn't find the ANCHO chili powder, so I used just the regular chili powder..
I also made Mr. Flay's
MASHED POTATOES with Roasted Garlic and Mascarpone cheese
to accompany this awesome
HAM STEAK.
♥
MASHED POTATOES with Roasted Garlic and Mascarpone cheese
to accompany this awesome
HAM STEAK.
♥
Ingredients for the potatoes....
- 3 pounds Idaho potatoes, peeled and cut into large dice
- Kosher salt
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 6 cloves roasted garlic cloves, pureed
- 1/2 stick unsalted butter
- 8 ounces mascarpone cheese
- Freshly ground black pepper
Place potatoes in a large saucepan, add cold water just to cover and 1 tablespoon of salt. Bring to a boil over high heat and cook until tender. Drain well.♥
While the potatoes are cooking, combine the milk, garlic puree and butter in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer over low heat. Stir the milk mixture into the potatoes until combined. Fold in the mascarpone and season well with salt and pepper. As I am not fond of chunk mashed potatoes, I did mash mine.
**
These potatoes were DELICIOUS.♥
We don't care for Mascarpone Cheese so I used
Parmesan and a little more butter.
Dessert NOT by MR. FLAY
but GOOD, never the less.

Great job BJ! It looks wonderful! I am going to have to try this out. Are you going to post the recipe for the cake? It also looks soooo good!
HAM?!?!?! I have to cover Earl's eyes and ears, but it sure looks good to me! The maple peach glaze sounds like a great combo and I love that you subbed the chili powder! I bet the whole dinner was great! Thanks for playing along BJ:@)
this does look good, the salty ham with the sweet flavors just make me hungry,
Oh yummy. I have a ham steak and maple syrup. Ooops, I made up my peaches tonight and they're being featured on tomorrow's post. Wonder how it'd be with cherries? I have some cherries.
You always make everything look so delicious!
Wow! Does that look good, or what? I can smell that ham all the way up here! Your potatoes sound like they have met their match! Lovely! xo Diana
I bet you'd give Mr Flay a run for his money in a throwdown. Yummy post.
You think I'm a fun girl your hoot. Also I might add, looks like you just might be a good cook. That's a hit and miss for me.

Wow, Bj, that dish looks incredible! I love it that you used Bobby's recipe as a base and then adapted it to suit your tastes and what was in your pantry. YUM! I might try this at Christmas time!
Best wishes and thanks for popping by to visit the other day!

You don't like marscapone cheese...really? I'm purring just thinking about it in mashed potatoes! This looks so yummy...all of it!
BJ, all I would need are a couple of your biscuits to go along with this meal, and I'd be happier than a pig in......well you know what I mean! xo
Poor Earl, he must have been nervous at first, LOL! Looks amazing. Great flavors in there, and such perfect grill marks!
That looks fantastic ... and the cake, Flay's or not ... really looks good! Thanks for sharing and thanks for visiting my site.
