Wanna make scones today ?

Some of you may remember that I played in the most fun meme,
CELEBRITY COOK ALONG with THE BAREFOOT CONTESSA,
hosted by LYNN, that's HAPPIER THAN A PIG IN MUD.
She has this cook-along each month on the 15th, with a different celebrity cook.
Be sure to check on that date because she will have some awesome recipes to share.
This cookalong with Ina Garten was a couple months ago.
I chose to make the CONTESSA'S
Cranberry Orange Scones.
The above photo is NOT something I made...
I bought these CRANBERRY SCONES at our local deli
and took this photo of them.  (THEN, I ate 'em..)
I added this to my post
simply because I LOVE THIS PHOTO. :))
Those are frozen cranberries and made the prettiest photo.
THE ABOVE are the scones I made.
It was around ST. PATRICK'S DAY.
 ♫♪♪ CRANBERRIES and ORANGES ♪♪♫
THIS is her recipe.
When I did my post on these delicious treats,
I promised to come back and show you a little about
making them...
a LOT of butter....
Of course, this is one thing that makes the scones sooo good..
Even the ingredients made for a good photo....
:))
The dough is pretty thick but still very workable.
I don't have a bread making machine..
or a heavy duty standing mixer.
That's right....
I am bread making machine and standing mixerLESS !
BUT...my heavy duty HAND mixer came with
dough beaters and they work really well with a dough as soft as this one.
They might be too light-weight to handle a thicker dough.
I have to tell ya that this rich dough was sooo delicious, I kept taking bites
and nearly ate it all before I could even make the scones.
Oh, Barefoot Contessa...you sure do know how to make a good SCONE !!
I just LUV this photo...
the dough climbing up the beaters....
(I know......I don't get out much)
I rolled and cut them just like I do my biscuits..
and, I baked them in a CAST IRON SKILLET.
O HoNeY
I hope you can make some soon...
if possible, serve them right out of the oven,
split with butter in between.
I mean...
Ya just can't get too much BUTTAH.....
**
I am happy to be playing with:
WOW ME WEDNESDAY
GOOD LIFE WEDNESDAY
REDNESDAY WEDNESDAY
Thanks to all the hosts..
Thank you for stopping by today..
Sure hope YOUR day has CRANBERRY ORANGE SCONES in it.
xoxo bj

Now they do look delicious. I have my favorite scone recipes and there's not a cranberry orange scone among them. I'm going to remedy that now.

I'm glad to see that your period of insanity was short-lived. Spring is always an interesting blogging time. I never know if I should stay or go myself.

I love how you rolled them out and cut them. They look nice and plump this way...I'll hold back on making a joke here. Delicious!!

Scones are my favorite breakfast treat (or dessert, or snack). My daughter and I have decided to take off a few pounds, so other than my WW scone recipe I will have to hold off for a couple of months making these. I always love trying new scone recipes.

BJ,
I love scones...but can't have "all that butter". . .so I just make biscuits instead. Yours look so lovely! Thanks for inspiring me to bake something now that the temperatures have cooled once again on the Prairie!!!

I've never had a cranberry scone, but I'd certainly be willing to try one--or more!

GOING FOR THE RED

“If forced to make choices,” she said,
“I’d go for the crimson and red.
I’d let go of green,
(Some think it’s obscene),
Embracing magenta instead.”

Yum! They look delicious! Are you back from going crazy? When we'd ask my mom where she was going her reply was. "Crazy, wanna come?"
I couldn't though, as I live in the state of Confusion, and can't get a passport! :)

Wonderful pictures! I must try that recipe soon. My husband just discovered how good scones are when I made some chocolate chip ones for my family at Thanksgiving.

Your blog is so full of fun, decor, and recipes! Thanks!
