MR. SWEET and myself don't drink much beer..
well....me...NEVER..a half bottle gives me a headache and ...it tastes HORRIBLE to me.
HE has a few bottles during the year....but very few.
The above outback Texas Bar-b-Q sported a
SIX PACK...
of the tiniest little bottles of beer you ever saw.
YEP...I did buy those little beers for their cute little selves !
This one photo was in JULY of '10.
Here is the last TWO little bottles...
8 months later...
SEE, told ya we didn't drink it much....
O, and I used 2 bottles for cooking..:))
LET'S MAKE
BEER BREAD....
Now, I realize that these little adorable bottles of beer have a twist-off lid.
BUT...
I LOVE using my little on-the-wall, old fashioned bottle opener..:))
Grands love it to open their coke bottles..
yep, we buy the little ones in GLASS bottles. ...just taste better to us.
"SHEILA, can you love a little, old fashioned bottle opener ?
Why, you bet your little Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper, you can !!"

WHOA...
take a gander at that FOAMING action..
woo hoo...
smelling so yeasty and gooood.
There's no waiting around forever for it to rise..
After mixing, just
throw it in the pan
and start the baking.
OOO, that's a pretty sight !
I just wish Blogger would add a SCRATCH and SNIF gadget so YOU
could have smelled this while it was baking...
Mercy Me !

Cute little burlap bag that I just love...
do you have WORLD MARKET in your town?
Everything under the sun and so much fun to go thru.
Here, I have the little burlap cutie filled with
baking tools, some of which are vintage, belonging to my little mama.
Thrifted pot plant ..
I am hoping it and others I bought will live long
enough for me to repot them and put out on our front porch in the spring.

YEP...
this is pretty much the reason for buying
the cute little bottles of beer in the first place...:))
A REAL flower tucked into each one...on a windowsill...*sigh
O, the amberness of it all....
I must tell you..
this is the BEST bread.
So quick to make and before you know it,
you are ready to sit down with a slice.
Like all homemades, no preservatives so that
means ya gotta eat it up quickly.
No problem !
♥
LAURIE was kind enough to post the recipe and
I stole it so quick, she never even knew it
She surely named HER blog right...
I luv that name, Laurie....it has a warm, downhome, friendly sound to it.
...just like your homemade bread.
I sliced it HOT, right out of the oven
and it just about brought
MR. SWEET to his knees.
The outside is crispy while the texture inside is what I would call a "medium" density.
I also didn't have fresh herbs to add but I will get some before bread baking time
comes around again.

He used buttah...
I used Creme Cheese with Pecans
O HONEY
all served on my thrifted white plate.
This, with the fresh orange slices, made the most delightful afternoon snack..
WAIT...do I need
TEA...
WINE...
BEER...
?
NOPE..
my afternoon cup of DUNKIN DONUTS coffee tasted just right...
CANDLE LIGHT....

I am so glad that Mr. Sweet came through that angiogram ok! I just now logged in and saw the prayer request and then the update. Um, you know you wrote here that you have a thrifted "pot" plant...I think you mean "potted" right? We don't want the law at your door:>) lol.
I love the smell of beer bread and the taste of it. I sometimes have trouble buying the stuff and try not to be like my sainted mother who had to explain exactly why she was purchasing beer. I like the sound of your bread topping especially well. Yay, yay, yay for everything going well for your hubby! I'm laughing so at Kathleen's comment and had to go back to check. Hahahhahahahaha...
I love beer bread and haven't made it in ages. Thanks for the inspiration. So glad Mr. Sweet did well! Oh and I love the 'pot' plant also....funny lady!
I am glad your hubby is alright!
My dad has 5 stents and his heart is doing great.
That bread looks and sounds delish.
I love Beer bread.
Great post!
BJ~ such good news! I am so happy for you and Mr. Sweet! God bless you both. God is so faithful!
I LOVE beer bread. It is so easy to make and smells and tastes delicious. Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe!!!!
YUMMY!

BJ, glad your husband is doing well and that beer bread looks good. I agree we need scratch and sniff. Thanks for joining WUW this week.
Thrilled to hear the great news. Tell Mr. Sweet to take it easy, and you too!
Cute post, BJ. ~ sarah
Oh...this looks delicious, BJ. Love those cute little bottles. I have made beer batter for frying foods, it's very light and tasty. I would love to try making the bread!
I am so relieved that Mr. Sweet is doing okay. I know how worried you must have been.
XO,
Jane
This is such a happy post...the good news aboutyhour husband and all the colors and the good food. I know you are so thankful that all is well with your better half.Happy Rednesday.
Oh BJ Sweetie...
Praise God that everything went well, and 2 stints later Mr. Sweet is feeling himself again, and having a slice of bread with his Mrs Sweet, BJ herself.
Now BJ sweetie, this recipe sounds just wonderful, and honey it drug me right on over from Country Wings in Phoenix. It was so intoxicating, it must have been that little old bottle of beer that you added, but whatever it was, it drug me on over. It was wonderful. Smelled so great and with cream cheese and pecans too. Wow, you are eating right sweet gal. Is there anything that pecans don't taste good on?
Thanks for the beautiful share sweetie. I love to get my dose of BJ.
Many hugs and so much love, Sherry
I am so happy Mr Sweet is doing well after his stents were put in. God is so faithful, indeed. Prayer sure works wonders doesn't it? I too, love beer bread. I haven't had it in years but I remember how easy it is to make and how fast it gets eaten. I love the idea of using cream cheese and pecans on it.
I'm thinking Mr. Sweet may not be using as much butter in the future! Glad all went well. You are amazing! A great post after what MUST have been a stressful day!!
So thankful to hear things went well today. You guys are in my prayers - k
good to hear it went well :-)
now I love beer and am allergic to wine so I am thinking that this post is just for me and Good Life Wednesdays right? too funny actually just b/c I got in after a long running around with the kiddos, popped open a beer, sat down and arrived here! too appropriate
I would like to try the recipe, I have never had beer bread...
thanks for linking up, appreciate it
sarahx
Oh BJ....I certainly hope you will stop back by my post. Evidently, I hit the "publish post" button tooooo early.
Yummy....Your bread looks delicious!
I have a lot of recipes that call for beer. We are not drinkers, so I always have to borrow a bottle of beer from someone to make the recipes! Is that crazy or what?
As always, your pictures or gorgeous. I really think you need to start your own magazine...
Hope you have a super nice day my friend!
Shug
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh how I miss Beer Bread! Due to my now Gluten Free existence. -sigh-
Well, that little six pack of beer did some heavy duty stuff! The bread sounds yummy and the bottles with the flowers in them are adorable!
Glad to hear Mr Sweets is doing good!

I laughed right out loud at "oh the amberness of it all!"
Giggling again.
They are really pretty bottles, and I love beer bread. My mom has a great recipe. She just won't buy the beer herself. The one time she did, she accidentally knocked down an entire display and made a Baptist church lady spectacle of herself standing in the beer aisle.
Good grief.
I enjoy beer, love to try the local brews. Glad to hear your husband is doing well. Mary
Wonderful yums, BJ!
Beer bread is fabulous! We still have beer left over from the summer here.....
I made a pork roast in one a few weeks ago. It was terrific!
Have a wonderful day, and glad Mr. Sweet is doing well!
What a fun post! I'll have a beer with that bread! heehee! Hugs! ♥♥♥
Worlds of men would hate to think you were using this to cook with or let sit around. I have made beer biscuits in the past. They were very good. I cannot stand the smell of beer. It looks very cool and refreshing in the summer. It is not for me. Never a doubt, anything you cook turns out great.
So glad Mr. is doing well BJ! Cute table and your beer bread looks great! And yep, I'd love to see a smell-i-vision monitor for baked goods:@)
BJ back again for another peek and to check in on
Mr. Sweet. Hope he doing well. ~ Sarah
Hey you....beer bread eh? We don;t drink at all so that won't happen here, but I am sure its good!! Just wanted to say hi!! x0x0
Love those baby beers! And they are perfect to use for cooking. Great photos and it certainly looks fun. The beer is scrumptious.
Your bread looks delightful, BJ! I used to buy beer bread mix from Tastefully Simple and we always enjoyed it. You're right, there is nothing like the smell of bread baking!
Blessings,Beth
Hi bj, So sorry that Mr. Sweet was having trouble but I am glad to hear he is okay! Your beer bread looks so good--I can almost smell it even without scratch and sniff on blogger! Did you ever wash your hair in beer? It is supposed to make your hair shine! Linda
It looks so cute around here...love the new blog look and that beer bread sounds so good. Not much drinking going on at our house either, unless we have company and I open a bottle of wine.
BJ,
We got some of that bread for Christmas and it is wonderful!!! The whole family ate it and it was so easy. Love how you did those cream cheese, honey, and pecan things! Oh honey!!
Sherry
What a fun post! I really enjoyed reading it. I'm gonna have to try that bread. Your bottle opener is so cool!
What a sweet little fun post! Your title is very catchy! LOL! Oh, we love beer bread too and I have been making it alot lately.
Nice to see what you are up to!
Donna
Hi BJ,
I am so happy for you that your Mr. Sweets is doing well...God is Good! My goodness, I can just smell that Beer Bread coming out of the oven. I always just love coming to your warm and inviting home. It is West Texas friendly and makes me feel cozy. Thank you so much for bringing your wonderful Beer Bread and your warm heart to Full Plate Thursday and hope you come back!
BJ,
You made me smile with that "scratch 'n sniff" comment for blog land! Your bread looks delicious! You'd have "Mr. Ed" eating out of your hand with those pecans in cream cheese; however I agree with Mr. Sweet... butter, please! Your dear hubby's report and this post brings to my mind, "Give us this day, our daily bread". The Lord is so good!
Fondly,
Pat
You are such a BAD influence today with this post. I am never a beer drinker but I do adore bottles. You know next time I am out I will give them a second look. At the auction they were commenting on the "old days" when a beer bottle was the "proper" size.
Then you show marvelous pictures of delicious treats not on my present eating plan and make me remember the days when I did eat beer battered deep fried foods. Shame on you!
I am now craving going out to shop and stop at the fish place (not even a restaurant, it is fresh catch but they will prepare it for you if you ask.)
Happy to hear your hubby is doing well.
I am another that doesn't like the bitter taste of beer to drink, but it does lend a nice flavor when used in baking/cooking. Gotta tell you, again...you do black and white better than anyone!
Hi BJ,
I loved your post! I have recipes for beer bread in several of my cookbooks -- keep meaning to try them, but haven't gotten around to it. Now, I just have to make some. Like you, we rarely buy beer at our house. I don't drink it, and my husband only drinks it occasionally. I really love your vintage bottle opener and your burlap tote from World Market. We have one right next door to our Home Goods store (Double Trouble). Your posts are always cheerful and full of humor -- a real pleasure to read. I'll be posting again at Tablescape Thursday next week. Enjoy your weekend!
Denise
I agree, beer tastes Nasty. But we have some and I will try that bread recipe!
Cute bottles! I saved the frappucino bottles to use as vases too. DH says I better watch out or I will be on the Hoarders show!
Glad the news was good for Mr Sweet!
This looks amazing....love it! You need to post the recipe! Happy VTT!
I get a beer bread mix that I really like -- your cream cheese and pecans sound wonderful! Happy news about Mr. Sweet.
Hi BJ! I have to chuckle because I'm drinking a bottle of (Sam Adams Light) beer that was leftover from Christmas! I love beer, but my husband doesn't drink at all, so I just have one occasionally. I love those old bottle openers - I should hunt one down!
