How NOT to be stressed when "they'll be here any minute"...

ONE day, not long before we left for THE cruise, our nephew and his wife called to say they were in town...
They live in LAS VEGAS and were here visiting their daughter...
They wanted to come by for awhile and visit
and I heard MR. SWEET say......
"Come eat lunch with us"....
and they said...
"We'll be there in about an hour!"
*

WHAAAT ??

AN HOUR ??

Now, I have to say, I was getting pretty dang STRESSED by this time..
I mean....we are leaving town soon and have been trying to
eat everything in the house and haven't bought many groceries....
*
MY PANTRY IS BARE !
I AM FOODLESS
*
.....but I DO keep a really GREAT pizza in our freezer ....
**
Do ya'll have a POPPA MURPHY'S PIZZA place?
You choose the meat/meats/cheeses on your choice of crust
and you take it home to COOK UP FRESH....
*
Mr. Sweet cuts up all kinds of veggies before he pops it all in the oven...
This is a thin crust...only about 20 minutes and it's good to go....
*
We had just bought a couple of CANTALOUPES
and Mr. Sweet cut them in bite sized pieces....
*

He makes the BESTEST garden salads so he whipped one up in no time at all....
*

While he was doing all this....I searched for a DESSERT...
A QUICK DESSERT.!!!
A package of OATMEAL cookie mix...
a package of dried CRANBERRIES....
*

"WELL.....HELLOOOOO, COOKIES..."
Now, I must admit...these are WONDERFUL COOKIES....
the redish PINK of the cranberries makes them a pretty cookie, too.
*

...add a LOT of cranberries and
a LOT of pecans....
mixed with the oatmeal...
ummmm GOOD !!
REMEMBER...I made these for the 4TH....and have made them several times...they are easy, quick and delicious for a fast dessert...

*

Since I almost ALWAYS have SHERBET in the freezer...
and a bottle of either 7-UP or GINGER ALE...
it was SHERBET FLOATS with the cookies for our finishing touch....
*
Not a fancy lunch by a long shot....
*
But, oh, we had such a good time visiting and being together...
FAMILY...
nothing more important in the world !!
*

Hope you are having FAMILY time, too....

HAVE A SASSY DAY...

LOVE, bj

  2. I am in awe... ... Not only does all that look YUMMY, it also looks PRETTY. Well done! I'm a hopeless hostess myself: I just give my guests a tour of the kitchen and say "help yourself"! LOL (okay, not quite)

  5. BJ...you are so kind to put my banner on your sidebar for the Give-away. I had to tell you that I have that same wicker desk and chair in the guest room....only in black. It serves as the bedside table. I love it!! Happy day to you.

  8. It all looks delish, BJ.

We have a Pappa Murphy's about thirty minutes away, near our kids. A lot of the time when we visit the kids we'll pick one up on the way home.

I just now clicked your follow button. I thought I was already following! Now I can keep better track of you!;-)

  9. Hi BJ,
Wow you pulled it off! I have been there before... I know how stressful that can be... I start running around to every room of the house checking for things out of place.. LOL. One time a friend called to come over who was only like 5 mins away... Panic,, I hadn't even showered yet for the day.. I was just loafing around. That will teach me to just loaf around. Now first things first I take my shower and get dressed for the day!. Lunch sounded great! and I can't believe you had time to bake cookies...
    Have a sweet day, hugs~Elizabeth
