THE GRAPES OF LAUGH

Remember this episode of
I LOVE LUCY ...?
Lucy’s Italian Movie - season 5, originally aired April 16, 1956...
I remember laughing so so hard at this one....it was the funniest thing i've ever seen and , now,
ANYTIME grapes are mentioned,
I see this scene above in my mind.....
(for those that loved PRETTY WOMAN...remember, this is what was on the tv screen when
JULIA ROBERTS was....talking....to RICHARD GERE...) :>)
*
*

My son, DAVID and his wife, KATHY
have a BEAUTIFUL grape vineyard.....
BESO DEL SOL

*
*
*

Parts of the vineyard are still fairly new (he plants more each year) and other parts are considered
mature....that means.....
WINE, baby !! ;o)

such big, luscious, beautiful grapes...
and plenty of them...

ON grape gathering day, here came this HUGH machine that "picked" all the grapes..
it was so amazing to watch...and WATCH, I did ! Very interesting and my first knowledge of how
grapes were gathered.... I mean, Mr. SweetNothings and I helped gather them a couple of years...back when the vineyard was a WHOLE LOT SMALLER....
but, now that is is BIG, it calls for a BIG MACHINE.....

here they are being poured into HUGH crates.....
"be careful, David...don't let 'em bury you alive in......GRAPES...you might ferment !"

TOTALLY full of the best looking and best tasting grapes, ever..

BOUND TO MAKE DELICIOUS WINE.....

MAN...there for awhile, I was afraid we MIGHT have to do THIS.....
and I'm thinkin', "I ain't gonna like THIS!"

but..NO..'course not........they are all going to a winery...WHEW !!
the wine won't be ready for another year or so but
I'LL BET IT'S GOING TO BE GOOD....!!

OH, LUCY....we'll never forget you and the laughs you gave us !!
*****************
HAVE a great day...

OOOO HONEY....I DO LOVE HOMEMADE GRAPE JELLY EVEN MORE THAN WINE.......yummy!!

GM BJ. Geez, that's quite a production he has. Aw and I'll bet you can make all the fresh grape jelly you want. :) We had friends that started to grow grapes for wine. It was a disaster, said it was cheaper to buy it. LOL

Love Ya,
Chris

Is the winery there in Texas? I am not a consumer of alcohol beverages but do like grape jelly real well.

Interesting picturess of the grape "farm".

I love grapes fresh off of the vine. My uncle had wonderful grapevines, but when he died, they sold the land.

I don't drink alcohol, but I sure like sweets and that homemade grape jelly looks delicious!

It pays to read each and every word of a post very carefully! My mistake. BUT you are still connected to something so basic, ancient and fun. Must be nice to know his grapes are contributing to something that tastes so yummy.

Hello BJ, your post today was terrific and as always, fun. I do love that episode of I Love Lucy. She was a remarkable actress, yet in real life she wasn't a happy person. I find that sad.

The vineyard photos are fabulous. I love to visit wineries and taste the wine. I enjoy a glass of wine but that's it, one glass. One time I had a visitor(no longer a family member) who brought her own wine to a Christmas dinner and when I offered her a wine glass, she said,"Don't you have anything bigger?" LOL. When she left that day she took her wine with her. Need I say more? I never saw her again. My poor nephew had no idea she was a drinker. His second wife.

Well I am off my soap box. Moving on with a big chuckle over your whole post.

Hugs...Jeanne

What a great post. I remember the I love Lucy episode too and the scene in Pretty Woman. It looks like they were having so much fun. My parents had a small grape vine in their back yard and they made the best grape juice from those grapes.

What a beautiful vineyard! And, yes, I love that episode of I Love Lucy! Your post brought back so many memories!

Might I ask what part of West Texas you are located in? I am a West Texas girl...went to Tech...lived in Lubbock...lived in Fort Davis...and ended up, for some strange reason, in East Texas! Ready to get back to West Texas though!

I visited northern California one year and there were miles and miles of vineyards along the road. It was fascinating. I've never toured a winery, though. I'm not a wine connoisseur but I love grape jam.

I also love Lucy!

I think people have a certain look of sophistication when they have a wine glass in their hand. For that reason Fern and I always wished we liked wine (Ya know, so we could have the look LOL). Well low and behold Fern now likes wine! It may be a fruity not much alcohol but it is wine. She has a glass at night. She can't wait to hear the glass click on her granite counters when her kitchen is done. For now she's stuck drinking it in the garage!! Not a lot of sophistication going on yet...

Congrats to your son and DIL. What a great business. I'll bet it's a lot more work then it looks. Good for them.

Thanks for the visit and the sweet words!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
