FAREWELL TO THANKSGIVING...

UMMMM...we had SUCH a wonderful Thanksgiving...
Sure hope all of you did, too....
You are all such sweet sweet people and deserve to have a wonderful day with your families and friends.
I DID tell you how thankful I am to have you for my blogging friends, didn't I ?
THIS is the way I WISH my Thanksgiving table looked but, alas.....
we opted for ....

PAPER PLATES...
GASP**

there's so many of us and it just works out better to have
throw aways..
I LOVE IT..
I AM always so thrilled to have them all here toether, I could care less about
what we eat out of..
Since we didn't have a lot of dishes to wash ...we had lots more time to play games, watch that football game , take a little nap in the floor beside our cousin...
i'm telling ya...LIFE IS SO GRAND...

i didn't get a good photo of our turkey...we carved it before i even thought of pictures ..
and, it was one of the best turkeys we've ever had. i tend to want to cook it too long, but this
year, i took it out the minute the little pop-out thermometer popped out. I also cooked it in a cooking bag and the turkey was so moist and good. It browned evenly and looked so pretty....
The ham turned out good...I was worried because I bought a butt end and cooked it all day ....
I generally buy a spiral, fully cooked ham but this raw one was on sale and I thought I'd just try ....
Put brown mustard, a little brown sugar, some cloves, a little apricot jam on it, wrapped it in heavy duty foil and it turned out very good....I am a HAM eater...like it much better than turkey.....

dressing and giblet gravy....my favorite of all on Thanksgiving....

fruit salad with whipped creme is one of my favorite things in the world...
apples, oranges, pineapple, cherries, grapes...
OH HONEY

WE had a few desserts, too...

Fresh apple pie...
GOOD GRIEF !!

Burnt Sugar Cake ....
this is an old old recipe that is so good you will want to marry it...
chocolate chip cookies ..
oh, and forgot a pic, but made some CHOCOLATE PEANUT CLUSTERS that were good...
I'll tell you about them next time....

AND NOW..................

Oh yes, we had a wonderful Thanksgiving! So glad you did too. Paper plates don't matter a bit, just the good times and love you have around the table. I'm digging out the Christmas stuff today!

We had wonderful tasting meal also.

But like you it is time to get the fall decorating put away - then get out the Christmas ones. That is what I am doing today.

Have a wonderful weekend.

I'm ready!! We are decorating today while we eat on the left overs. No Black Friday shopping.

Your dinner all looked so yummy...that apple pie is the prettiest I've ever seen. The burnt sugar cake - you should probably share that recipe. :)

Good morning, BJ -
I'm so glad you shared your Thanksgiving table with us. I didn't go for a fancy table this year, either. Later today I'll share about our day yesterday. We had a number of things go wrong but in the end it all worked out and tasted good. The important part was the people! We had to laugh because for awhile it seemed to be one thing after another and we wondered what was next. But, all in all, it was a good day.

Good morning BJ, your Thanksgiving dinner looks like mine! It was wonderful and fun but it's time to move on. :) I always decorate for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving but this year I am breaking tradition. My husband is off to the deer camp until tomorrow so he's not here to help and I can't drag all those boxes out alone. And Sunday morning we leave on a mission trip for a week so I'll be way behind when we get back. I suspect that means I'll not decorate quite as much as usual but that's probably a good thing! blessings, marlene

Your food all looks positively yummy!!! I'm so glad you had a wonderful Thanksgiving BJ. Ours was fun as well...lots of good food, card games, football and visiting. Oh...there were a few mentions of "wish list" items wanted for Christmas. Guess I'll be braving the mall this weekend to shop for our Grandson. That and packing away the fall decor and getting the house ready for Christmas!!!

Have an amazing day!

Your food look wonderful!! Much better than ours - but that is just me; after all of that cooking, mine never tastes good to me. After many hours in the kitchen, I'm just tired of food!!! Everyone else enjoyed it. Sally

WOW it looks like everyone was treated to some YUMMO food at your house! I'm glad you had a wonderful time with your family. I'm also glad it's over...I hate cooking...especially for just me and the hubby...but I dug in and cooked a turkey and some of the trimmings....now we'll have leftovers for about 6 months!

Hi BJ,

Everything looks yummy! I'm a ham eater too so now you have me craving a slice! I'm afraid I am not quite ready for Christmas, I've done a good chunk of shopping but I have much more to go and then there's all the decorating to be done. Goodness it came up quick this year!

Hugs,
Dena

BJ - Your Thanksgiving meal looked beautiful. We had 32 and this year the girls talked me into paper plates. The food tasted just as good on paper plates and there was less work. Hubby's favorite is ham also. On Christmas eve we always serve a buffet and have ham and shrimp. I love your header.
Hugs,
Sweetie

BJ, I think you are the best cook in blogland. Those dishes look scrumptious! If you wrote a cookbook, it would be a bestseller!

Your meal looks wonderful! We had 7 and I still was worn out from the cooking and cleaning. Today I had to work, attend a memorial service then practice the organ to prepare for Sunday. Now I have a bad headache. Just seeing how long I can sit here and catch up on everyone before I need to go and lie down. Oh, and get my Pink Saturday ready. I like your header too.

I'm not quite sure I'm ready to do Christmas just yet. Can I take a little breather? It looks like you had a FEAST, and I'm still drooling over that apple pie... I don't suppose there's any left, is there? ;)

Mary

Looks like a wonderful meal. I am with you and I use the heavy duty ivory plastic plates on Thanksgiving. I always have pretty napkins but the plates have to be disposable THAT day - too many other dishes to wash!

It sounds like you definitely had a wonderful Thanksgiving! My gosh that apple pie looked good!

Omigosh, look at all that delicious looking food...any leftovers you can send me??? hehe I'm so glad to hear that you had such a wonderful Thanksgiving. I've learned to use paperplates when we're a big crowd, it really cuts down on the amount of time stuck at the sink washing dishes!! xoxo
