"HAPPIEST HALLOWEEN TO ALL"

The pictures in these frames change with the seasons or holidays. My daughter and I give ea. other a pretty calendar every year and I use the pictures from those.

BOOOOO.....this is THE LADY OF THE LAKE, in Dallas, Texas. I used to live in Dallas and have heard her story all my life. Story is that she drowned in the lake just days before she was to be married. Now, "SHE" walks the roads and highway, trying to get back home. Stories of picking her up in their car, people have taken her to the address she gives them and when they get there, they look in the back seat and........poof.....she's gone. BUT, there's always a wet spot on the seat, PROVING that she was there!!!! BOOOOOOOOO........

Now, this green, but, actually kind of cheery lookin', lady is sitting on my porch swing, just waiting for all the trick or treaters !!

This display is in my neighbor's yard...I think it's so cute..especially the one on the right! :)

Hope you have a safe and HAPPY HALLOWEEN !

THE FIVE AND DIME REMEMBERED ~~

After reading about the FIVE AND DIME in my new VICTORIA Magazine (slober, drool) I decided to share with you some of the pieces my mother bought from F.W. WOOLWORTH in Dallas, Tex..back in the 40's and 50's. It was a favorite place of hers to shop, things were fairly inexpensive and the store was so much fun to go in.

I can remember angels with angel hair, glass balls, the bubbly, different colored lights, tinsel, icicles that my mother wanted my brother and I to place, one at a time, on the tree and, when she wasn't looking, we'd throw a handful at a time on.

When I was in high school, I worked in a 5 & Dime.....in the toy department. Looking back, it was so much fun. While I was doing it, I was just "passing time".....(and now I WANT IT BACK!)

This cream and sugar set is soooo one of my favorites. I don't even use them other than for display....too afraid I'll drop one on this tile. Most things, old or new, I use but...not these!

I couldn't capture the true pink of this depression glass cake plate that came from Woolworth. It has such a pretty design on it and I use it every chance I get!

The FIVE AND DIMES had more than just toys and Christmas decorations. They had lovely pieces of glass and many other things. Many of these have now become heirlooms and I'm so glad I have these pieces from so long ago; especially because my mother loved them. I love the pretty vase and the heart shaped candy dish. I have some more things from the FIVE AND DIME that I want to share with you but those are for another posting...another day.

"A TOUCH OF PROVINCE" ~~

Just a touch of Country French in my house works for me. It seems to blend in with country pretty good. I love it...could be the colors the French like to use; deep reds, blues, golds, yellows and greens.

This little chest is one of my favorite pieces. I love how the artist painted that rooster in a coop!!
They seem to love roosters in France; there's a lot of them shown in Country French decor.

I, myself, LOVE roosters and have quite a few but....that is a whole other posting!! :)

Sunflowers are so pretty to me...I, of course, like the fresh ones best but they don't last long enuf for me. When I found these great fake, uhhhh, I meant FAUX ones, I was delighted. These will last much longer.

I HOPE YOU HAVE A HAPPY DAY ~~

A BLESSED SUNDAY

One of the granddaughters being baptized. Yes, that is a stock tank, that is her preacher in the red and the other man is her daddy. How special is that?

Remember, John the Baptist baptized so many in the rivers.

It was indeed a blessed Sunday. I hope your Sunday is a good one!

TAGGED.......

MARY that lives in the LITTLE RED HOUSE, has issued a tag of the game "7 Interesting Things about Yourself" and I wanted to play, too. Thanks, MARY......

1. I've always wanted to be a dancer...in the movies!

2. After modeling school, I was offered a job as a runway model but was too homesick and went
back home and got married!

3. If I could choose one special blessing, it would be to be able to sing!!!

4. I really don't like to wear bras! (Now, remember, I'm old and "things" aren't where they used
to be so I really do NEED a bra!) :)

5. I totally LOVE Mexican food.

6. I belong to a wonderful home church.

7. I just last month got my very first MOON ROOF in my new car....my first, ever!

Anyone that would like to play the game....consider yourself tagged and have fun!

DID I TELL YA'LL I'M FROM TEXAS??

I LUV TEXAS ..................

Such a beautiful bronze......*sigh*

We've had one of the best cotton crops out here we've had in a long time. Wish I owned several hundred acres of it !!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

This little sign hangs in a local custom boot shop. I think it's so cute!!

Lots of cowboy hats out this way.....

These fancy belts are the BLING of western dress......

I love the looks of these ladies black, leather western boots......

A WORKING COWBOY AND HIS DANCE-HALL QUEEN on their way to a Halloween party.

Oh, and they said they had a great time at the party, too !! :)

USING WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE.....

Needing extra storage and already having an old, yellow bookcase.... I painted it black and filled it with baskets. They hold everything from yarn to games to cards...you name it.

JUST A FEW FLEA MARKET FINDS....:)

I can't imagine why I like large, clear glass containers so much but I sure do. I prefer that they have a lid but if they have an interesting shape, like the one with the pecans, and they are missing their lid, I usually take it home with me! Wouldn't I LOVE to have them lined up in my little pantry instead of boxes and bags!!

I found this at Goodwill, actually, for just a few dollars...I did recover the seat (forgot to take a pic of the old one). I love benches.....

This was just a dollar and it was bright brass. A coat of pewter spray and some spicy candles and it adds just a little sparkle to this wall.

Not sure just why I wanted these three little bottles...just thought they were cute, I guess. Maybe they will look nice with stems of winter berries in them?

Well, I actually didn't find THESE at the flea market......

But, I DID find this and, boy, do my grandkids love it! I do, too.

"IT" finally came today.........

I went out to my mail box this afternoon and......there "IT" was....YIPEE

WHERE IS MY ..... VICTORIA???

One of my favorite collections is MAGAZINES....decorating magazines to be exact. I love them all...I just can't AFFORD them all. So, I have subscriptions to Country Living, Country Home, Traditional Home, Better Homes and Gardens and a few more... One of my all time favorites, of course, was VICTORIA. Now it has returned, I sent in my request months ago and I keep hearing, "YIPEE.....I just got my VICTORIA." but I haven't seen MINE yet. Every morning, I check my mail box, I've emailed the company twice to make sure they got my request. They have assured me that I WILL RECEIVE IT SOON....So, if you haven't received yours, yet....hang on with me....IT WILL COME.

STRAWBERRIES ARE ALWAYS IN SEASON

I can remember when strawberries were available only "during season". We only had access to them just a few short months and, oh, how we looked forward to that first Strawberry Shortcake. I still love them and seldom can get enuf even tho you can find them in the markets and grocery stores just about any time of the year now. Aren't we lucky!!!

Dreams for my old Ranch Style House

The house with the railing is sooo pretty to me. I saw this picture and fell in love with it. It is so homey and friendly and warm. Then, I noticed, "It's a little (well, a TINY) little bit like mine." So my sweet hubby is helping me in getting our humble 1950's Ranch (that's it with the American flag proudly waving) on the way to looking more like this dream house. He just poured a higher front porch, we will add some pretty railing as soon as we can, I will trim our shrubs down a lot and just give the whole front a giant makeover. I love it when I have a picture of something I love and can work towards that LOOK !! :)

This is what I WISH my house looked like..*sigh*
